"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

I must bring whatever I have in clothing at that point. To date DH is down 58 and I'm down 41 and I have been shopping for a bit every weekend and am having a hard time finding clothes because the stores haven't switched over to fall clothing completely yet.....hopefully the next few weeks is more fruitful.

Congratulations! Losing that weight is much more important than what you're wearing.

I just got out my clothes for dinner. Nothing fancy - a couple skirts, a pair of pants, and different blouses to mix and match. I will most likely repeat some of them since you only wear it for a little while. Like someone else pointed out, we have to pack so much heavier stuff than for a Caribbean cruise that someting else has to stay home. I will take a pair of shorts since for me 70 is shorts weather.

Hiya!
My wife and I sailed on the July 5th sailing and know some of you.

After some questions around, figured I'd just save time and introduce myself to all of you and offer directly. :)

You guys are going to have an AMAZING time! Everyone who has ever told you you have to see this for yourself is absolutely right. No other way, no picture can completely convey what you're about to embark on.

Soo.. what can I help with? And there isn't such a thing as a stupid question. :)

Hi Mark! Give Mary a big hug from me.

Thanks, let me tell you, it's been easier than anything I've ever done in my life. It's only been 13 weeks and for me that is very quick, especially since on WW I used to lose 1/2 a lb a week. Now I get anxious if I don't lose 3 or 4 lbs in a week...but hey it is a good feeling

What are you doing to get such great results! :worship:

I am not taking shorts but will take capries. I can not wait. :dance3: Tommy is out of town this week so I am packing.

Oh, don't get me wrong, there's an entire story behind that, I'm not laughing at the temperature.

Sorry, Mark. I didn't take you wrong. I was more commenting on your comment of that it didn't get above 70 the whole cruise. Summer just hasn't arrived here yet :(. It's overcast again today and not really too warm.

I live in Victoria. Glad you enjoyed your visit over here. It's a beautiful city. Wish you had more time to spend. It's such a diverse Province, a few days sightseeing don't do it justice.

The Vancouver Aquarium is great. Wonderful exhibits. The Amazon area has been there for about 25+ years. One of my favorite exhibits, aside from the Belugas. I can remember going to a dinner one night and the guest speaker was the fellow who was director of the Aquarium at the time. He gave presentation about the new Rainforest exhibit going into the Aquarium. They had just come back from the Amazon and showed pictures of the research trip. All this talk is making me want to go an visit it again. I think I'll wait until some time in the Fall though due to the summer crowds.

Thanks I appreciate that - however, I do need to wear some clothes...but then again Lori said she was coming to dinner Neked on formal day, so that can be an option :rotfl2:

We are doing Take Shape for Life - that actually uses the food from the Medifast weight loss plan. We eat 5 of their little meals a day and have one meal of lean protein and veggies. We've changed our whole way of eating, however, i do miss my ice cream.

I have a dress already picked out for each night - no jeans at dinner for me lol - I figure it will be warm inside so it's my chance to dress up every night :)

I fully agree with you finkerbell! I don't have a lot of opportunities to wear dresses and skirts in my day to day life. I teach second grade so I try to usually wear pants so I can get down on the floor with them!:rotfl2: And after teaching I put on a leotard and tights for ballet, so I'm not exactly looking stunning each day!

A cruise is so much fun because it's a chance to wear some of the many many dresses I own. I love them and bought them because I thought they were lovely, so I relish any chance to show them off.

Just back from Alaska, had a Wonderful time. Did the Dyea horseback ride out of Skagway WARNING: a lady fell off because her horse went into a ditch. Because they use mounting blocks at the stable area her stirrups were cinched too high for her to get back on. They left the woman by the side of the trail, alone, until she got picked up by another tour group heading back to the stable.
This was more of a pony ride, no trotting, just follow the leader, put the horse on auto pilot. Felt like a little kid just plotting along. Not worth the $$ or time it took away from other things. :sad2:

Just finished the first of many packing chores - getting dinner clothes ready. This time I'm not going to have 7 different outfits because they take up too much room. I'll mix and match and maybe even repeat something. Next thing is to get Dan's things ready.

I am really ready. Door magnets and signs are done. All the FE gifts are done. Suitcases are out and started packing. Got a new pair of sneakers today so I am ready for walking. AM considering bringing boots or buying rain boots. I have been tracking the weather and it as been in the 50's and rainey. We packed ALL our Mickey ponchos and an umbrella. Bought covers for the strollers too.

I have a couple sweatshirts, but no fleece. Hmm wonder if I should order one?

Mark, Where did you eat in Vancouver?

Was there enough time with excursions to wander the towns?

We booked our excursions yesterday. Today I had my master's thesis approved so that is finished!! :cheer2: Now I can get working on magnets and FE gifts. I can't believe how close we are.

did anyone get any magnets made up specifically for this cruise, that I could steal. I have all my old magnets that are not cruise specific that I'm bringing, but I usually like to have one for the particular cruise I'm on. Lori sent me one, i just wanted to see if there were any others out there.

Thanks.
