"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

HELP!!!!
also, I am having the worst time with the airfare. anyone here coming from NYC? what are your air details, and how much was it?

we are 7 people and its more than the cruise to fly!!! i've tried to fly us in/out of seattle, in/out of vancouver, a combo of places, etc...... it's a mess. we can fly as early as 8/20, but our return should be on 8/30, we can do 8/31 only if we really have to. HELP!!!!! TIA!
We're flying out of Newark on he 21st and returning on the 31st. It's a Continenal/Air Canada codeshare to Vancouver. The cost was around $2900. We didn't see anything cheaper. Several of our friends from our area are using miles.

Good luck.

Please add us to the FE list......

we are in 2607/2609.....

We'd be the ones using miles. We booked two tickets on miles (25K each) and paid for two (750 each). We're flying on Continental code shares on Air Canada. We're leaving on 8/14 and flying home on 8/30. Since we used miles it was ACTUALLY cheaper to fly in/out of Vancouver than Seattle for some reason. Air Canada allows 1 bag per person free, so that's also a savings.

I found $621 per person on Cathay out of JFK for 8/20 and flying home on 8/30. That's not too bad, IMO. I also found $695 out of LGA on 8/20 and also flying home on 8/30. I didn't check into SEA, because then you also have to figure out how much it's going to be to get to/from YVR. Just go to kayak.com and check all the flight info. GOOD LUCK!!! We book our flights back in October due to using miles just to get the good flights.

My hubby and I are going to be on this cruise also. We'll be celebrating our 32nd anniversary. I always wanted to go on a cruise to celebrate but he didn't want to do a Carribean cruise in hurricane season. When I saw that they were bringing the cruise up to Canada, I jumped.

Room # 2572 Ken & Brenda:cool1:
Congrats! We are also celebrating our anniversary (30) I can not wait. I am Leisha traveling with DH TOm
Congrats to both of you. Looks likes this might be an Anniversary Crusie. DW and Me will be celebrating 48 Years and DD Maine_Jennifer will be celebrating her birthday the week before at the cruise while we are at D23 and DisneyLand. I guess I need to check in here more often. Was supprised to see the move to a new chapter for the cruise.:sail:

Your kids are close to age to my 3 older kids. (They are DD 12, DS 8, DD 7)My daughter Adriane has started a kid thread for this cruise in case you are interested.

For those of you that live in Washington or Canada. How do you think the border crossing will be the morning of the cruise. We will be staying in Bellingham and are hoping to leave sometime in the morning for Vancouver.

Goodevening everyone. I have been doing some more research on transportation to and from Seattle. We are booked on Amtrak Train going to Vancouver and are taking a bus back. Quick Coach Lines has a bus that picks up from the cruise terminal and has several stops in Seattle. They offered us a 10% discount. It is 51.30 per adult. A little more than Amtrak, but it meets our requirements. We have to travel by different modes of transportation for the children to experience. So we have, automobile, plane, train, boat/ship, bus and are hoping to add in trolley and cab. I just remembered we dont have bicycle, but the ones who are old enough already do. Maybe there will be a shore excursion with one. We are already set for a 4X4 shore excursion. Did I forget anything???:confused3

Hello fellow Yankee fan!!! It's nice to have you along. There are a few Red Sox fans sailing with us, one of those being my DH. Needless to say the fall is very interesting in our house!!

We are also flying on point going out to Long Beach, CA for some time at DisneyLand and D23 before the cruise and then flying to Vancouver on Air Canada the day before the curise. I just looked at JetBlue and then have flights around $258 from JFK to Seattle on 22 August and from Seattle to JFK on 30 August. We are flying this airline back on point and getting a car rentle from Vancouver to Seattle on 30 August. Our flight is not until late evening (red eye) so we have all day to get from Vancouver to Seattle. The Drive is somewhere around 3 hours. But then there is customs to deal with which will add some time to the trip.

Hi, Fellow Cruisers

Just got caught up on your ramblings. I was MIA. DH and I did a cruise with the competition and life got in the way a bit. Welcome aboard to all the new cruisers. :wave2:

We're paid in full and everyone is going. Didn't make the final decision until the 2012 itineraries came out. Much rather sail out of Vancouver than Seattle.

Looking forward making some decisions about excursions. There are so many choices. Only 20 more days until the Wonder docks in Victoria for the first time. I'll be down at the breakwater watching her come in and will post pics.

Welcome back. I too have been MIA for awhile. Had a long Disney Vacation middle to end of February (2 1/2 weeks) and sort off forgot about checking here.

We're paid in full and everyone is going.

We too are paid in full for everything but the car rental. Glad to hear that everyone is coming. Will miss you DS and DD when we are at DisneyLand the week before the curise. We did have a great time together last time when we were at DisneyLand together.

We have pritty much narrow our excursions down to just a few to choose from. First Port of Call we have made a final choice for the three of us. The other Ports of Call are still up in the air. :sail:

So how did the competition measure up?

I agree about going out of Vancouver. And for me, it's equidistant to either place!

Good Morning All

Well we have one excursion all set we plan on doing the Whale Watch and Mendenhal Glaicer excursion with Harv and Marv's Outback Alaska in Juneau. Thinking also the Lumberjack.
A group of us are staying over in Vancouver a couple nights before the cruise at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel.
We were very lucky on our flights which we booked back in Dec. We will be flying Air Canada from Portland ME, on to Toronto, then on to Vancouver. Round trip cost for both Nancy and I was $1,500. Three weeks after we booked the same flights went to $2,800:worship::worship:.
We lucked out got them at the right time.
Leaving Maine 6:30 Am on the 20th and arriving in Vancouver 12:01 PM.
Everybody have a great day

That's great! It's always nice when you get a great deal like that! You are going to love the whale watching. I know we don't have Orcas in New England but I know I have been on several whale watching trips out of the Cape and other parts of the coast and have seen a ton of humpbacks. Seeing the Orcas will be an amazing experience for you guys! I personally LOVE any kind of wildlife and I can't wait to see the bald eagles. I heard that they are very abundant in Alaska. Oooooh I'm getting exited again!!!!!!

I just paid off our cruise ---so now it is official: ALASKA HERE WE COME!!!!!!!:cheer2::cool1:

We can't wait for this cruise and are looking forward to meeting all of you!
