If I bought DCL insurance, does that negate the need to buy insurance for my airfare?

(i.e., I live in Boston and we are doing a 3 night cruise in February... and the fear of God is in me that next February will be like last February and so I want to be covered. When I just went to buy the airfare it asked if I wanted the insurance, but I am hoping that the DCL insurance covers any flight issues)

DCL insurance only covers whatever you paid for through DCL. If you purchased your airfare interdependently, it's not covered. Unless the airline itself has the insurance.

Plus, DCL insurance doesn't kick in until the trip starts.

That's why most of us go with third party insurance. You can get better coverage for a lesser cost, usually. And it starts as soon as you purchase it.
