DCL Halloween Pin

If anyone has an extra pin from Halloween and would like to sell it, please let me know. We aren't into pin trading but like a special one from each cruise/trip to WDW.

Our Halloween cruise had a special limited edition pin, but not enough for everyone to get one. We'd like to have one just for our "Mickey Ears Hat".

We stood in line, a preformed line waiting patiently for our turn to buy ONE pin - while those ahead of us bought 4 pins apiece and asked family members to buy 4 pins apiece. All the time hearing, "We can resell these on e-bay!!!"

Yes, I wanted a souvenier pin from our cruise, but I won't buy it from a pin dealer who makes a profit from greed and leaves the other cruisers to hear "sorry, no more, limited quantity."

It was and remains one of the "sore points" of my "rants and raves" (read the "Palo 500" for a reservation spot as my other).

So, thanks, but there might be someone who got two and is willing to sell one to a fellow cruiser for the cost of the pin and postage with an appreciative thanks.

You may want to ask on the Collector's Board. That's where you find the pin collectors.

I'm surprised that they let them buy 4 apiece. It's always been 2 for the limited edition pins when I've cruised. Someone goofed.

It does take less time for them to sell 4 apiece rather than just 2, doesn't it?!

I agree with you. I was very disappointed in the pin thing. I am not a pin collector either but wanted to buy one of the special Halloween pins for each of my kids. I too, after standing in a long line, was told they were all gone. Trying to buy pins was hard on the early seating diners as the pin sales always started during our dinner time. It did urk me as well when I overheard people in line talking about buying several to resell on ebay, but then again we can't expect Disney to police this activity. As you said, Disney can sell four at a time faster than two at a time.

If I may, I'd like to rant and rave about one more thing. I learned on this board that Disney gave out trading cards on the ship at special events. Great idea, I thought. At least this is a fun and free souvenier my kids can collect while onboard rather than pins. We found it was not so easy to get trading cards and got several, "no we don't have any" answers from crew members when we asked for them . I was told they are phasing out the trading cards. When I asked why, I was told they want the cards to become like collector's item. As a matter of fact, they had a collection of discontinued trading cards up for silent auction! Hmmm, can you see the new listings on ebay in the near future? ....... It's sad, but in the end, even on the cruise, it's all about making a fast buck, isn't it?

The only time Michael ever received a trading card was from Captain John who Michael had walked up to and asked if he could "introduce himself to and shake his hand for doing such a good job driving the ship." That was TWO years ago.

Good luck trying to find those trading cards now - yes, they have them but they are like GOLD.

There should be a better way to do these things but my theory -
(warning! - this is MY theory and opinion only - is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. You know those adults that always want something for nothing and will go to any length to make a big scene about some small concern they have.
They will do and say the things that most of us would never even think of just to get something for nothing then take it to ebay and try to sell it for $$$$$$$.

No apologies to those who are the whiners, complainers and greedy - you know who you are and can "always" justify your actions. I just wish that you would remember that these are for the kids and not your pocketbooks.

DISNEY needs to change a few things about this - Hmmmmm, topic for a new thread I'm smelling here!

I can understand your frustration. You want a special pin for your child's collection, not to trade, or make $$ with. They should definitely limit the special pin sales to 2 to a stateroom- not a family. Then there would be enough to go around.

We were on the first Halloween 7 day cruise in 2000 & they gave each kid who came to the Studio Sea Party one. Adults tried to get more( yelling, being rude.. ), but they were strict about it. One per child. Because they did not sell it, it's become a pretty coveted pin. About 500 were given out. They started selling the Halloween cruise pins from 2001 on...

They should have kept doing it the way they did in 2000. Then each child would have one as a memory.

I just got back from the 11/8 cruise & they had no special pins at all. I noticed they had a poor inventory of cruise pins onboard, in comparison to our other cruises. There were more on Castaway Cay, than on the ship! There were very few trading cards on board this time too. We thought they stopped giving them out. They gave one out the night of Disney Dreams. That was it.

It really should be adults who get a manners check and not the children!!!

Sad to know that the pin assortment was lacking - we didn't see any trading cards at all this time around. But then again, if we get one, we just say thanks and put it in the memory box.
