DW and I (she's 23, I'm 26) have been looking at taking a Disney Cruise for a while now. We've never done a cruise before, and we're looking for something that fits us.

We're both pretty big Disney nuts. We've done Disney World four times since we got married in 2007, and we're looking to take the Disney experience to the next level. :cool1:

We've done lots of research, but it's hard to get information about the average age of cruisers. We're by no means "nightlife, party it up" people - so we're not worried that everything closes at midnight. However, it would be nice if there were at least a few other couples our age around - especially when having dinner. It would be a bit weird for us to sit with a bunch of 40 something year old couples :rotfl:

So my question to everyone is, do these younger couples exist on Disney cruises? What kinds of excursions would fit a couple like us best?

FYI, we both love kids, it doesn't bother us at all to do "kid-like" activities.

Thanks!

Although we are not as young as you (*sigh*), we are in our 30s, still youngish for a couple on a cruise with no kids. That's was my experience anyways on a non-Disney cruise. But everyone is "young"when it comes to Disney, right??!

We booked our first DCL for next Sept, and I can't wait. And the age ranges of other guests is the last thing I'm thinking about!! :goodvibes

You can join your cruise meet and met other couples.
Request to be seated with other couples for dinner.

Go and have a wonderful time.

If anyone goes on a Disney cruise expecting it to be all kids, then they wont have a good time. If you go on a Disney cruise(doesn't matter the age) to have fun. You will have a great time! If you all are both Disney "nuts" and you both want to go, then I say go for it! The only people who I have seen not have a good time(my brother) are pessimists who are determined to not have a good time. Everyone else has a fabulous time! Have fun! pirate:

P.S. Don't be afraid to go crazy and dress up on Pirate night or volunteer at the shows, No one will judge you and no one knows you and everyone has fun. Go for it!

DH and I sailed alone in our late 20's and have been dying to go back ever since. Now we can't wait to take our kids. You will love the "adult" areas on the ship, and especially Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay.

We met a lot of great people on board, and our table mates, who were "older" (40's ;)) were crazier than we were. They had the alcohol flowing, and we just sat back and had some great laughs.

Go you will love it, and quickly become addicted :thumbsup2

We sailed by ourselves last fall (what're grandparents for?). And had a great time. We're in our late twenties and ate dinner with our disboards friends from our meets thread.

If you love Disney like us, you'll love it!

My husband and I (31 and 26 respectively) are going on our first Disney cruise in Oct. We are (well I am a) huge Disney fans (he's a good sport and is a bigger fan than he lets on) and I'm not the nightlife type so I think we're going to have an amazing time!

We took a cruise on the Wonder before having kids and enjoyed every minute of it. We were shocked that on a ship that size, you could easily avoid kids if you wanted to (we did). We spent days on excursions and by the adult pool, skipped most the shows but did some of the bars and different tastings (wine, beer, etc.) Saw a couple movies in the theater. It was very relaxing and romantic and we are so glad we were able to do that before having kids, though of course our last two Disney cruises with them have been wonderful as well, just different activities :)

There are plenty of younger couples sailing. We sailed when I was 24 with my partner and were were seated at dinner with other couples in their 20s. We met a great couple and spent time with them throughout the week. We would sail again in a heartbeat and have no worries. Disney is really family friendly, no matter what stage your family is in. The entertainment is superb and there are tons of adult only events to participate in.

As far as excursions anything goes. Read descriptions and if something sounds fun do it! Some of the specialty cruises have specific targeted excursions for families or adults. But there are so many options so just find one that interests you.

Goodluck and have a great cruise!

We were late 20's with our first cruise, which was Disney and we just loved it. There were lots of activites at night in the main lounge/bar like the newlywed game, scavenger hunt etc that we really enjoyed, as well as the alcohol tastings.
Oh, and for dinner, we "advertised" on our roll call for another couple close to us in age, which we have done everytime since and it works perfectly! We have made great friends this way.

There are 2 young couples going on our DCL cruise next year. Both couples are very early 20's, no kids, and love Disney and cruising.

Go and have a great time! DCL really is for all ages, not just couples/families with kids! :sunny:

My wife and I are both in our twenties. We ate dinner with two other 20something couples and saw a few more around the ship. We're in the minority for sure, but there are others!

Thanks for all the advice! I'll have to hop into our cruise thread once we book it and see if there are any other disboards folks we can meet on board. And I love the idea of advertising for another couple our age :goodvibes

My fiance and I are both in our late 20's and went on our first cruise earlier this year! :cool1: We went with a huge group and then found that they were ALL older than us... it wasn't a problem though. All three of the couples we sat with were at least 20 years older and one was in their 60s, but they were all genuinely nice people and we had enough in common that the hour and a half daily for dinner was actually really pleasant. When in doubt we just talked Disney! Around the rest of the ship we kept interacting with others too, there are a lot of young families out there, and lots of younger people with their parents and things too. All in all everyone was just nice and friendly, it didn't matter WHAT their age was, that's Disney right?

We are also kinda like you - we have a great time in the parks and don't go for nightlife either. We'd get a drink in one of the lounges and enjoyed the comedy stand up shows they had in the dance club before it got all dance clubby (and left when it did, lol). We actually found so many things to do that we kept ducking out of the group activities (going with this group had been the main point/excuse to go on the cruise to begin with so it was pretty surprising really) to just enjoy the activities and ship. It was a 4nighter and didn't end up being long enough..!

My DH and I went on 4 or 5 DCL cruises in our 20's/no kids and had a BLAST!

We were always seated with other childless couples at dinner- they were always Disney World nuts just like us- so it was fun to talk about Disney.

I'm 24 and have never had a problem meeting people that were approximately my age. Disney does a really good job of pairing people at dinner and there are usually groups of twenty-somethings on sailings.
