Would you book a cheaper cruise on the Dream or a more expensive one on the Wish? Just trying to get your thoughts on the value add of the new ship. For sake of this discussion, let's pretend COVID restrictions aren't a thing, just purely trying to get your thoughts on the value add of the ship itself, not relaxed COVID restrictions.

The design of the Wish doesn’t appeal to me at all so I would sail on the Dream. I guess if the price difference wasn’t too big (like are we talking a few hundred or thousands?) and I really wanted to sail on the Wish, I might have a different opinion.

What about the design of the Wish doesn't appeal to you?

If you have small children, I think the Wish is perfect. For our family, all of the "shows" at dinner and the in your face intellectual property is unappealing. Also, we prefer longer cruises so tend to sail on the Fantasy. I'm sure we will try the Wish, but not for a while and at a time of year when it's less expensive.

Is this your first ever?
If it is your first cruise ever, then it really doesn't matter because you don't have a standard to go by if the cruise is good or worth it.
I never buy/get anything new because I wait for the reviews to roll in to determine if the new product/service is really worth my money. Yes, many things in life are dependent on time and money.

Got it. So the Wish is more geared to families and is more appealing to younger kids?

Google it? There's lots of info out there about the Wish. You can check out the DCL Blog, too. I'm very much looking forward to sailing on the Wish despite not having kids because I think it looks great. But, well, opinions vary.

One thing to consider is which port you want to sail from. The Dream is moving over to Miami soon.

I am partial to the somewhat Art Deco look of the current ships. I’m just not a fan of the overly decorated frilly look that I’ve seen so far on the Wish. I want to feel like I’m on a classic ocean liner in the 30’s, not inside Cinderella’s castle lol. It’s just personal preference. Some of the dining rooms and bars on the Wish look interesting but that’s not enough to make me want to sail right now. Maybe someday.

We have sailed on all four of the existing DCL ships so yes, we would book the Wish even at a higher price. We just want to see everything for ourselves.

I'm echoing what seems to be a common sentiment. If this is your first cruise, I think I'd go with the Dream. It's a less expensive way to try out DCL and see if you like it, and it's a wonderful ship. Once the Dream starts sailing I personally would probably be more likely to book a cruise on the Wish than the Dream because I've already been on the Dream 3 times and I'd enjoy the variety of checking out the new experience, new dining room menus etc. But that's not to say I don't love the Dream!

We've done 23 Disney Cruises between all 4 ships. Due to working in a school, my top priority is timing so I usually go by what works for my time off. However if we were talking the same week, same number of nights, both easy ports to get to I would definitely go with the Dream. Not just because of the lower price but from what I've seen so far, I'm not in a rush to get on the Wish. We are a family of adults if that matters.

I'd give the Wish a year or so to be in service until they shake out the bugs. There will be a slew of problems where systems don't work - it's not a DCL thing, it's a new ship thing of which I have extensive experience. We will look into sailing the Wish in '23 or even '24, but not sooner. Jump on the Dream and have a great time

I just did my very first cruise- 4 nights on the Dream- and it was fantastic. I'd choose the Dream (and probably will, in the near future).

I'm all about the itinerary and length of cruise. For that reason we've stuck with the Magic and the Wonder. Would do one of the others if 7+ day interesting itinerary comes up.
