One of our recent trips was a golf trip ( played all the Disney courses in a week ) ... we (couple) did a split stay with 3 nights in the FW cabins. It was fantastic for this... Nice for car being close club storage etc... We really liked it. We enjoy grilling and having the kitchen ... so "cheap' 1BR - like stay... It's a different vibe.... we'd do it again.

This would be another reason for me to stay here, so its close to one of the golf courses? Which was your favorite golf course, I would like to do a trip like this soon! You should do a trip report would love to read it

Im sorry if this is offensive to some, as i said I really just dont know why. If my resorts looked more like a trailer and I bought it knowing that it looks like like that, I wouldnt be offended if someone pointed out what everyone can see....

I mean I 100% agree with you that the ‘cabins’ look more like metal trailers, but I will say that “Florida trailer park” certainly has a…connotation.

I also know that each individual DVC resort (like each Disney Moderate, but more extreme as people have ownership interest) has extreme defenders (and detractors), so it doesn’t surprise me that the people who love the cabins are against them being compared to trailers.

Personally I have no desire to stay in a woodshed.

Imagine staying there with your grown up kids and maybe a grandchild.

Who is gonna sleep in the crib size beds?

The problem I have with those is they need curtains, like old style trains had.

Do you need a golf cart if you rent a car? Are you not allowed to drive around the resort? I want to try every DVC resort and thought it would be nice to park right there like the Tree houses at SSR.

It would have been nice if the bunk would have been in the main room instead of the bedroom that was a turnoff to us. The whole point of a 1BR/2BR for many is to have a room separate from the kids.

I also wish golf carts were just included and they were electric golf carts so the "gas" was just included as well. Its weird because it would be like charging you to ride the skyliner or boat.

I'm confused by what you mean - they are electric golf carts. You plug them right in at your cabin.

You can drive around the resort, but there is no car parking located at Pioneer Hall (dining, shopping, boat launch to MK) and extremely limited car parking spots at the Meadows store. I think those are 15-20 min parking.

There is golf cart parking all over, or you can take the internal bus. I wouldn't stay there without a golf cart.

That’s good to know! I was thinking of booking a girl’s trip there next year (how hard is it to book the golf cart or do they deliver it straight to your cabin)?

The minimum age is 16 with a valid driver's license. You have to be 18 to rent, 16 to drive. And yes, although at least they don't rearrange the carts like they do strollers. A lot of people decorate their cart so it is visible. I just memorized the license plate number. A lot of the campers bring their own carts, and it is fun to see how decorated they are.

You pick up and return the golf carts right at the front of the resort, by the check-in area. The Cabins have space for both parking a car and a golf cart on a little driveaway in front of your own cabin, with an electrical outlet built into the cabin. The CMs suggested we just plug it in every time we arrived back at our cabin.

We loved parking in such close proximity to our cabin, literally about 5 steps away. They have tons of cart parking right near the main bus stop (for Epcot, HS, AK, etc) or by the boat launch to MK along with the pool area, Pioneer Hall, and other areas in the resort.

You can book the golf carts in advance, but they mentioned that apart from Halloween/Christmas, there are generally plenty of carts to rent by walking up. We made our golf cart reservation right after we made our Cabins reservation at 7 months out, and they charged us upon arrival.

Fresh off the Disney Wonder and Alaska. They had two pitches (one for prospect members, which included a Hei Hei and one for current). I went to the current member pitch to see what they were saying. They were pushing cabins the most as “longest deeds with 1BRs at a studio value. Purchasing the cabins would give you the most value.” They certainly did talk about PIT Ana’s others but surprising the push was around the cabins. No mention of Lakeshore yet. Small push abound Member Beyond. As a Disboarder, I felt like I know more than most. Ha ha ha. Free swag is always nice and worth the time.

Palm, Magnolia and Oak Trail courses are in the shades of green - basically right across the street from poly/VGF ... so Its relatively close to Ft Wilderness... LBV course is in SSR.

Quick report ...

"recent" was last fall... hehe time flies.. It was just my wife and me. We did a 2-3-2 split stay in BLT-CFW-VGF ... this was our first stay in all of these resorts.

BLT was cool - we had a lake view room that was also full theme park view... you just had to look to your left!...hehe. Fireworks were fun from balcony. As others have suggested, the pool is kind of 'boring'. We found it nice enough. Wasn't very crowded.

CFW ... as I mentioned we enjoyed it. I think if we brought the kids, they would all be in the bedroom, and we would be on the murphy bed. We didn't have a golf cart, but would get one if we were going to stay around resort more. We were a short walk to one of the pools, so that worked out. Pro tip - thick cut bacon on the grill in morning - no mess.

VGF - we were in an original studio on top floor (Std view) looking over the monorail towards parking. Great view really. ( wife could monitor my grilling from the balcony ) I liked this place more than I thought I would. Fireworks are great, pools are fun. ( odd only one hot tub)

I like the SSR course the best - Lake Buena Vista ... Palm and Magnolia are great fun too... I liked Oak Trail the least - but it's walking only... and it was freaking hot out. One thing I learned was if staying on property, Disney has a 'free' shuttle/bag service for the golf courses. So if you didn't have a car, they will come pick you up and bring you back when you are done. We didn't use the shuttle since we had a car rental.

Besides golf we kicked around Disney Springs ... ate at Jaleo for the first time, got the 'Jaleo Experience' + wine paring. Really fun and good, but sooo much food. We always goto Sanaa to get the bread service and watch Giraffes fight. Hit Trader Sam's after a day at the VFG pool - both my wife and I fell asleep in the Poly lobby waiting to get seated... hehe too much fun at the pool I guess.

It was a great trip!
