would you say that the dining rooms have food comparable to WDW signature restaurants or standard 1 table service credit restaurants? Just deciding if we would want to go to Narcoosees or Ohana the night before our cruise... if we are going to get food similar to Narcoosees for most of the cruise, we are thinking of doing Ohana for the atmosphere

While I think the opinion of the MDR food can be all over the place, I don't think anyone would ever say it's on par with a WDW Signature restaurant. You would have to go to Palo or Remy, more likely Remy, to get a Signature dining experience.

Go to narcoosees. Food is decent but not outstanding in the main dining room. My mom's cruised HAL, Celebrity, DCL, and RCI and she'd say DCL is toward the bottom. I've only sailed DCL (5 times) and I've been happy but not super impressed with the main dining rooms.

The main dining rooms do not compare at all to Signature restaurants at WDW. I'm not even sure I would equate the quality to some of the 1 TS meals either. They have to mass produce thousands of appetizers, soups, salads, entrees & desserts all at once for two different dining times. That affects the quality of the food, IMO.

I like the food on DCL. Now, I'm not a "foodie", but, as long as it's not raw or burned and is prepared well, I'm good.

It pretty much falls into the "catered wedding meal" type of food prep.

I find that to be true on all the cruises I've done, except the river cruise we took in Europe. Now, that was high class dining. Of course, the chef was preparing menus for only 140 people, not 2000-4000.

On our only cruise (Wonder Alaska, last summer), we found most of the food to be great in the MDR's, especially with how many they're prepping. We liked most of the desserts too, but then DH and I don't really like cake, so we were eating other desserts. I LOVED my Grand Marnier Souffle. It felt like we were at a fancy restaurant each night--note that the fanciest we go with kids these days is Longhorn Steak house--so if you eat in fine restaurants all the time, you might not feel that way.

Remy's is more like Victoria & Albert's, way above a WDW Signature dining experience even for brunch. Palo's is more like a Signature dining experience. We always do Signature dining and V&As at WDW and Remy's (dinner, brunch, dessert) and Palo's (brunch and dinner). But we still find plenty to eat in the MDRs that we like. I have had one of the best rib steaks ever on one of our Med cruises.
