DCL is one of the lines changing how they display cruise pricing to comply with a California law that bans business from displaying a price without including fees. Specifics here: https://apple.news/AW1wNFd81SxWOAKEEBdx9Eg

I randomly check our upcoming cruise to see if prices change or there's a stateroom I like better, last night I was shocked to see how much (I thought) it had gone up in price. Turns out not really, cruise was still the same price as a week ago. Just an FYI not to panic when everything looks more expensive.

I have actually only seen DCL list prices including taxes and fees... All the cruises I have been pricing look the same. The website has always said- Price including Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses and has since I started sailing in 2020
Exactly. That’s one of the complaints we Disney cruisers had about booking with other companies.

And DCL shows you the price for the entire cabin, not pp. Theoretically, you could add gratuities and know how much the cost could be from embarkation to disembarkation. (Especially a Bahamian cruise with just CC or LHP, even Nassau).

I don't remember seeing it until after I'd clicked on the stateroom type, but I'm willing to admit I've just missed it before. The article said they plan to comply so if you're right, that wasn't entirely correct on their part.

They already comply so I'm guessing "We will comply" doesn't mean much when they already have been doing it.

Like @auntlynne mentioned it has made pricing other lines more complicated since DCL has it automatically set for 2 people in cabin with all fees and taxes (and once you put in your party make up quickly adjusts). Other lines tend to list per person and before all the fees & taxes so it feels like sticker shock when you get to that final price and it is so much higher. This new law will stop that and make it easier to price.

They do/did break down the total cost into fare pp and taxes once you picked a cabin; sort of backwards from what the others did.

Some of us have spent a lot of time looking at cruise websites.

Be glad you aren’t so in touch with this aspect of life.

I was trying to be helpful and also said I was willing to admit it if I had missed it. No reason to be rude.

Edit: My apologies, didn't see the joke in there. I may need a margarita and a good night's sleep.

No worries. I read your response after your edit. My punchline wasn’t the best wording to get the rim shot.

But hope you got your rim salt and a good pillow.

I hear you about snark. And flat out hostility.

As to DCL’s announcement of compliance. Was it even necessary? They “plan” to comply? 🤔 Sort of would have expected more of a toot your own horn.

Keep on posting. I’ll keep working to make my point clear (can’t promise it will be concise, though).

There is no change. DCL's initially displayed price has always included taxes and fees, as well as double occupancy. They've been much more upfront than most cruise lines in that regard.
