DCL CHaNGES PAYMENT DUE DATES

I understand. I guess I haven't notice DCL having issues with filling their ship. I check a month after I book a cruise and I'm so glad I was able to book it early...most popular staterooms are booked...there would be a few here and there and a lot on deck 1 or 2 left.
There seems to be an increase of discounted rates as of late. I even got a *GT rate for Dec back in July...outside the PIF date. There is an April 2019 listed now. I think they are starting to reach the ceiling of what people are willing to pay. For our dec sailing I looked at it on opening day and even with an OBB it was ridiculous so I didn't book. Would have been $12,500 for the 6 of us. No way. We have done the carib and I am not paying that kind of money to go to the same place again. I am paying the $8500 as that is more reasonable and it is on DD19s Christmas break, but I have to pull our younger kids for the week. Apparently I wasn't the only one not willing to pay the initial rate.

I agree. And the rates increasing steadily is one of the main reasons for needing to offer last minute discounts. I'm sure DCL has gone over the logistics and found that increasing the rate + discounting last minute rates produces more profit than keeping their rates manageable and not needing to offer so much discounted rates. Changing the PIF shows it's more profitable for them. I guess it hasn't reached the tipping point yet.

I'm hoping someone here might know whether excursion/adult meals/cabana bookings will also be open at 120 days (platinum)?

If so, we will PIF prior to 120 days, even though it is not required for previously booked cruises, in order to have a better chance at these bookings.

Thank you

Great question!

I would love to know as well. For some reason, I assumed (which I realize is very wrong at this point) that moving the PIF to 120, just requires EVERYONE to make the payment early, but check in and special dining/excursions/other bookings will remain as is...meaning basically 120 days for platinum, 105 for gold, 90 for silver and new cruisers at 75 (??).

However, my assumption could be very wrong. I know for some things you need to pay in full ahead of being able to make bookings, so that does happen. But I have a feeling that people will have an issue if they have to pay much earlier than when they can access the bookings etc. So does this mean 120 days become the 75days of the new cruisers? And platinum members who want to take advantage of their early check in and bookings would need to pay 165 days in advance.

Or is it what I assumed? That EVERYONE need to pay at 120 days and platinum will be permitted to check in/make bookings at that time, while the rest of the guests need to wait for 105, 90 and 75 days prior as it is currently.

It doesn't affect us too much either... we PIF to reserve excursions as soon as we can anyway and typically have purchased our airfare well in advance. If we could drive to the port or change plans a couple months out it might be different.

I don't remember reading about the CC levels changing their booking days so I assume they're going to stay the same too.

Boy glad I found this. I booked a cruise and family booked later. I couldn’t figure out why we had different PIF dates
