DCL by cash!

Dean,

Was the Disney Visa $50.00 Credit (in addition to the $75.00 AAA discount?)
I booked through DU and paid with my Disney Visa. Will this credit automatically be applied or do I need to ask for it?
We have the 4/3/04 (7 night) cruise. (also, does the Disney Visa $50.00 credit have an expiration date?)

That's my understanding. I asked the DCL rep at a cruise show and he said yes. We shall see of course. I'll post after our trip in March to let you know what happens.

Dean and anyone else interested, i have been emailing AAA about booking, and i just found out that AAA charges a service fee, hmmm. i thought that being a AAA a member and paying each year to be a member, that we didnt have to pay a service fee, i can just pick up the phone and call DCL direct myself, has anyone else paid a service fee to use AAA.
dvc was much cheaper using points for one person and paying cash for the rest of the family. i think i will look into sams club

Nothing should be more expensive than DCL directly other than minor fees that some of the companies add. AAA didn't add a fee on mine for a cruise but they routinely do for airlines. I'd try Sam's or Costco but if AAA was higher beyond a $15-20 service fee, my guess is one group or the other had your information wrong or just made a mistake. I'd follow up by phone rather than email.

Sorry, looking for mid July. Would like to go in 04 but if I have to pay over 7,000 for it, then 05 might be the better time. Can you book 05 yet?
Unforunately, you're looking to cruise during one of the most expensive time for DCL. The holiday cruises are the most expensive (Christmas, Easter and then Thanksgiving) followed by any cruise during the Summer months. DCL charges a premium for the summer sailings, since they are a "family" line and know that most families like to travel when school is out, hence Summer being expensive. If you're really looking to cruise in a category 6 cheap, you'll have to sail at an off time. Usually, January, early Feb, Sept, Oct, and early Nov are the cheapest. We're cruising next October on the Eastern in a category 6 and with 2 adults and 2 children, we're paying almost $3400.

For comparison, the icruise site gives $4,172.00 for the cat 8 and $4,704.00 for the cat 6 assuming four adults and their insurance costs. If some are children under Disney's guidelines, the price comes down a little. Taxes and their extra $14 are included in those prices. You're a little close to the travel date to get the best prices unless you qualify for the FL resident rate. Good luck.

wdwstar - you should check out All Seasons Travel. For the cruise you're interested in for 4 adults they're charging $3965 for a category 6 and $3495 for a category 8. This quote does not include insurance, but that is usually around $200 more for 4 people. You should check them out, I've found them to have the lowest prices on DCL cruises. www.allseastravel.com
