DCL App/Navigator on Android

Could someone clarify/something for me? I have the DCL app on my phone. I have to log into my Disney account every time I want to use it. It is not a big deal because I barely use it. Will this still be the case when I am on board the ship? I remember reading online that something changes and you no longer need to login every time you use the app on board, just once shortly after you first board the ship. Is this accurate information? Having to log in every time I want to use the app while on the ship would probably get annoying pretty quickly.

Also, I am using Android, so if there is anything Android specific I should know regarding the app, that would be appreciated.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

You will use your last name, birthdate and stateroom number to connect to the app for use while on-board. You shouldn't need to re-enter your information for the duration of the cruise.

This is correct. Once the app switches over to "On Board" (in the terminal and on the ship) you don't need a Disney account to use it, and you don't need to log in at all after the first time.

At home, I have to login frequently too on iPhone. Ship isn’t an issue though.

Yes I have to log in at home. I have enabled the finger print log on so it's not so bad. I understand the frustration but I appreciate any extra security these days.

Just like the parks app, we were pretty disappointed in the app/wi-fi while on the Wish last week. For Disney trying to rely so much on technology, you'd think their apps would be better. On the ship, although we didn't have to log back in, the app frequently wouldn't load. Other cruisers mentioned the same thing while onboard.

They can't get their websites to work half the time, so the apps being less than efficient is to be expected sadly. For the size of Disney, their tech is severely lacking.

There have been discussions in the past about bringing back the paper Navigator because of problems people have had with the app.

I am not a tech savvy person and the one time we tried the app we missed so much because it kept logging us out, this was back in November 2019. I also do not like being tied to a phone all the time. When I go on vacation I like to turn the phone off as soon as we leave port, lock it up, and not turn it on again till we get back into port on the last day.

I am glad they brought back a simple, printed two sided paper with the daily activity's you can either pick up at guest services in the morning for that day. On our last cruise November 2022 our room steward was nice enough to pick us up one each morning and brought it to our room when he made it up for the day.

Eventually, at some point, some day we will try the app again but I still like the paper Navigator, it can't log you out.
