If you really want to do an Alaska cruise, you should consider other cruise lines. Although there are people at DCL who would love to get into the Alaska cruise business, there's only a small chance this will ever happen.
There are wonderful ships operating Alaska cruises from fine companies such as Princess, Holland America, NCL, Celebrity, Crystal, and Carnival.
The only thing that is keeping me from booking one of these cruises is that none of these lines offer non-smoking cabins on Alaska cruises. (I'm not trying to start a smoking debate here; I'm just stating a fact.) It seems the cleaners do a good job cleaning and deodorizing between guests, but there's a distinct chance that the previous occupant of your cabin could have been a smoker; and it's likely that people will be smoking in cabins near yours.
