DCL Air Program Question?

When you buy your airfare through DCL, are you issued e-tickets or paper tickets? I am going at the end of the month, and DCL has me booked on Continental.

When I purchased our airfare through DCL, they sent a booklet to our travel agent that contained both the outbound flight as well as return flight paper tickets. We received the booklet about 2 weeks before departure. We were also booked with Continental.

You might want to check with the airline or DCL about prior seat assignment. We did not get our seats assigned until we arrived at the airport and were given the last three seats at the very back of the plane. The Continental flight was long for us ( 5 hours) and the seats were so cramped because the back did not recline. There was no overhead compartment so all our carryons had to be stashed under the seats in front of us.

I think I read on another thread that you can call for seat assignment as soon as you get your documents. Just a tip to make your flight a little more enjoyable.

Edit to add: This only happened to us on the way there since our flight was full and there were no other seats available. On our return flight, we had different seats and those were great.

You can actually call for seat assignments before you get your docs. The air travel is actually booked 30 days prior to departure. At this time, you can call DCL and ask for the air desk. They can give you your flight information. You can then call the airline and make seat assignments. That way, you should be able to avoid being in the back row, or worse, being split up throughout the plane.

Just a quick addition. If you're doing the air program, I'm assuming you have the DCL ground transfers too. Make sure that you put the Disney luggage tags they provide on your luggage BEFORE you check it in. That way you won't have to go to baggage claim at all - Disney takes care of it. On one of our trips another couple on our plane didn't put the tags on before checking their luggage, and they had to go to baggage claim and identify their bags for the Disney staff.

Have a great trip!

The air package does include the transfers. However, there is an exception to what ImNarek says above: If you choose the "day before" option with your air (if you fly across the country, you either have to take the red-eye or fly in the day before; the day before option includes a night at the Hyatt), you don't put the cruise line tags on until the morning of the cruise. You'll have to claim your bags at MCO. You then tag them and leave them outside your room at the Hyatt in the morning, and they will be transferred to the ship. This will be spelled out in your docs, and again, it only applies if you're flying in the day before the cruise.

In April we did the land/sea package, and booked the air thru DCL. We were issued e-tickets on Delta, and were given seat assignments for only one leg of the trip! We had no trouble being seated together the other legs of the trip (had to transfer once each way), as the airlines try to keep families together if at all possible. This was during spring vacation, and the plane was full. There was only family who ended up being split up - they were latecomers and the last to board, so my guess is that is why they were split - the stewardess was able to find them seats together - people were very accommodating in changing their seats so this family could stay together. I do wish I had known beforehand that I could call and get my seating assignment done prior to arriving at the airport - that is great advice, as I did worry about being split up, even tho my Dss are teens.
