DCL adult activities?

We just marked our first trip on the DCL Magic. To say I was disappointed with the adult activities is an understatement. The pool area was almost always empty and they played this god awful elevator music all day long. No live band like in the atrium, no trivia no nothing on the pool deck. Granted yes in the bars and stuff they did things but participation was limited which made it dull to attend. People want to be out enjoying the fresh air by the pool one would think. Anyways......
Did like to give DCL another shot but I want to hear from those who have been on the other ships about their experiences from an adult point of view. Please help me narrow down which ship is more desirable for these things. :)

I have done 8 DCLs, 6 of them just DW and I.
We love the relaxed atmosphere of the ships and the non-hurried do everything now that is prevalent on other cruise lines.
We have always found something to do when we wanted too.

Well that's what I'm asking. What is there for adults to on other ships?

I personally like that during the day the adult pool area is quiet. It is one reason I love the quiet cove area on DCL compared to other adult areas. If I want music while I lounge I just bring my headphones because at least then it is music I enjoy.

Outside of that we go to trivia in the bars. They are decently attended with 5-6 teams on light days and more on heavy ones. There was also a singles mixer that my friends attended that they said was well done but I am not single so didn't check that out. The alcohol and food tastings and seminars were also available and well attended. We also played Bingo even though that is not adults only.

We enjoyed the adult only pool and hot tubs. They varied in the amount of other guests throughout the day. Also went to the gym and spa daily. The magician in an adults only lounge was great in the evening. Saw several shows, did a tour & really enjoyed dinner at Palo.

I enjoy the Rainforest Room a couple of days every time I go. I also make a point to watch a movie or two late each night. I've taken a mixology seminar twice and had a blast each time. I personally like the quiet pools on the adult side because, really, do you want to sit shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of strangers in the hot tub? Palo and Remy are both fantastic. As for outdoorsy, pool side activities on the adult only side? No, DCL doesn't have anything like Sexiest Man Contest or separate live music for Quiet Cove. Any kind of "party" atmosphere would be in the main family friendly pool area. They do have a pretty fun pool deck party on pirates night if that's what you're into

I have only done a couple of CCLs, couple of one night cruises to no-where, and those were back in the early '80s. Those were like a college frat party so I am not the best to answer this question.

Taking my first DCL cruise this fall, and personally I'll be THRILLED if the adult pool area is empty! Ship pools are generally pretty small, and I hate stewing in human soup :crazy2: Not to mention trying to find an empty sunbed!

Other cruise lines have casinos that are usually fairly busy at night. Disney does have adult-only nightclubs and lounges, so I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for?

I have completed 8 Disney Cruises and have been on all the Disney ships. I've been on two 14 day cruises on the Magic and on those longer cruises they do provide various live music, trivia and other games in the adult pool area. If you are more interested in the pool areas or deck activities some of the lager ships (Dream and Fantasy), have other activities such as miniature golf or virtual games (for a fee) and other pool areas such as satellite falls but IMHO to pool areas are typically to just soak or lounge. If I do hang out in the pool areas on sea days it's either to read, sleep or ride the AquaDunk or AquaDuck depending on which ship you are on. Nevertheless on my various cruises I have noticed all sorts of adult activities going on in the lounges and around the ship such as music trivia, dance lessons, karaoke, bingo, movies, alcohol tasting (for a fee), cooking classes, scavenger hunt, spouse/family trivia games, etc. As adults you can also enjoy a nice meal at Palo, Remy or both depending on which ship you are on, spa treatments, rainforest room, gym, etc.
