D'Cappella ?

Has anyone spotted D'Cappella lately? In the parks? On a cruise ship? At a Christmas event? Don't see any information on their website or Instagram, so just wondering if they were around lately?

For some reason I thought they were the same people who made up the voices of liberty. (Just their non-disney parks marketing name). If so I saw them perform an Americana set at the food and wine festival just after the Mexican Mariachi group.

I believe they were performing on the America Gardens Stage when I was there in October. Well, an acapella group was performing the 50th "You Are the Magic" song, so I assume it was them.

They did something for the opening of Disney on Broadway recently.

D'Capella is not the group now performing at the American Gardens Theater at Epcot - that group is the Voices of Liberty. Currently they are using 12 performers in the show dressed in "street" clothes instead of the period costumes worn when performing in the rotunda in the American Adventure building.

While Disney does keep them busy performing all over, when they have an opportunity to perform elsewhere, the group is called 'Liberty Voices'.

Derrick Johnson formed a gospel group in the 1970's called Re'Generation and Disney "discovered" them in Jacksonville in 1972. They began performing at Epcot on opening day (October 1, 1982) and have ever since.

Originally, Derrick wrote the arrangements used and auditioned all performers. Disney has taken over those roles now.

Derrick's wife, Debbie, was an alto in the original cast and continued until retiring on October 31, 2015.

We were able to attend several of their shows over the past few days and enjoyed every one! Voices of Liberty performed the 50th "You Are the Magic" song at each performance.
