Just returned from weekend trip to LA & here's my DCA/DL scoop:

Soap Opera Bistro Restaurant's last day was today. CMs are saying a Playhouse Disney show is going into their space. The waiter we had was getting moved to the Avalon Cove restaurant . . . and the story there is that Avalon Cove is getting renamed "Ariel's Cove" or something like that.

The Arriba Arriba restuarant in DTD is closed . . . anybody know what's going on there? Can't imagine it will be left vacant for long.

The ToT looks bigger than the one in Orlando! The structure looks complete; the construction workers have added an American flag to the structure. Can't wait!

FINALLY . . . there looks to be progress on the Carousel in DL. Steel structure is in place and there's lots of construction equipment to be seen, when you ride the Dumbo ride & look down into the site.

That's it! Had a great weekend & not too crowded.

It's too bad that the Soap Opera Bistro is gone. We wandered in but unfortunately never ate there even though the place looked really fun. So, it's being replaced by ANOTHER WDW clone?

And the beat goes on...

we don't even watch soaps, but we thought this place was really fun. the theming was great!

Had to disagree, but the food was poor and it didn't compare to the restaurant it was trying to emulate: The 50s Prime Time Cafe in WDW. Not at all surprised it's gone.
Now, think of it this way: a place that was there to make money is being replaced by an attraction, not another restaurant, and not another shop.
I'd say that's a positive thing!
The company that owns Arriaba Y Arriaba went out of business.

That section NEEDS something to bring in guests coupled with the need to bring in families Playhouse Disney is a plus.

I also heard that once the new Superstar Limo and Tower of Terror opens, that it will once again become a restaurant.
