DCA Hours during Oogie Boogie Bash

Looks like they've scheduled the Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday starting in early September until Halloween. The hours for the bash each of those nights is 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Does this mean that DCA will be closing earlier than 6:00 p.m. on those nights to regular guests?

Disney will give party goes a wrist band to show and those without the wristband will be asked to leave the parks after 6pm

If it is like past parties, the OBB ticket will allow entry to DCA 3hours before the party.
So at 3pm the park volume will begin to grow.

So if you’re in line for something at 6pm, will you get to ride (like when the park closes at the end of the night ), or are you instantly thrown out on your Mickey ears?

As long as you get in line before 6, you should be good. After that, you cannot get in line unless you have the wristband.

So my son was disappointed that after parkhopping from DCA to Disneyland in the late afternoon this past Saturday (9/11) to get on Rise of The Resistance, eating, etc, we couldn't be persuaded to slog back to DCA just to ride his favorite Toy Story Mania before the 6PM early closure.

It got me thinking - we were lucky enough to have Parkhopper tickets. Does Disney ever have to deal with complaints from single park ticketholders who feel like they've been ripped off by having the last 4 hours of their day essentially stolen from them?

I mean, it's not like they even open up earlier on Ooga Booga days to "make up" for the 4 hours you lose.

I feel like if people really made a fuss as they were gently escorted out, it seems like Disneyland ought to offer like 4 hours at Disneyland or something. (Also, I really want to see how that happens. I mean, Cast Members have to turn into wristband police? I've was once on the other side of this, entering Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Not So Scary about 3 hours early, but that was a long time ago, and I wasn't the one getting booted. :-}

I have a reservation for DCA on a day when they're having the Oogie Boogie Bash, which I wasn't aware of when I made the reservation, I don't think they even had the dates available when I made the reservation. The only reason I found out it was closing early bc of OBB was bc I happened to send a message via chat on the app, just trying to figure out the times for the park that day since I know they change their hours throughout the year. To be completely truthful when I was "speaking" with them they tried to give me some BS about how the park wasn't closing early bc of the OBB but they just close the park earlier sometimes during non busy seasons. I didn't want to argue with the CM via the app even though it was obvious the park was closing early bc of OBB, and the day before and the day after they were open until normal time.

On Saturday Sept 11, my sons got in line for Grizzly River Run at 5:50pm. The Cast Member didn't allow them to stay in line and told them they had to leave since they didn't have a ticket for the party. I was shocked. And they were very disappointed.

Tbh, I have been on both sides of this-the one booted from line and the AH ticket holder in a line past the first 30 mins of the AH party start time with stragglers. This was at WDW pre pandemic though so Idk if they can allow it now. I have to admit, it sure stings a lot when I paid that much for a ticket and people are still there 1 hour after my time began who didn't pay for it. It has happened both times we paid for the AH ticket and I get what you are saying, they were in the line ahead of time, but they have to clear the parks for those who have paid the higher price or people will complain and stop paying. 10 mins seems like the cm was being a bit picky but I also don't know what the rules are for him getting stragglers off the ride in time to leave the parks. I feel bad it happened to your 2 boys though. I can only guess it must be due to limited cap with the pandemic now for these parties?

Well, the easier solution would be to go back to the old days and clear the park completely and open separately for the party! I actually didn't mind that.

Wow, I've never had that happen before. Maybe they are really cracking down. But it doesn't really make sense since you paid for a day ticket until 6pm. If it truly was 5:50, that should have never happened.

By the same token, it also stings when you pay a lot for a one day Park Hopper (just $54 shy of what I paid for an AP 11 years ago), and you end up not getting what you were led to believe you would get when you paid for the ticket and made the reservation. My boys had big plans for DCA at night. I think DCA would have closed at 10pm had there not been a party that night??? So 4 hours were taken away. With the 1pm Park Hopper rule, they had 5 hours in DCA...well, technically 4 hours and 50 minutes given their GRR kick-out-of-line.

Disney REALLY needs to announce the dates of parties/after hours events BEFORE reservations are made available for those particular dates. With the Disney Merriest Nites announcement, that would have affected 2 nights I planned to be in Disneyland in November. I changed plans a while back so it doesn't affect me now, but I would not be happy if I had already booked flights, hotel, ticket and park reservations, and then have them spring these party dates on me "last minute" and continue to charge me full price while cutting my time short. This business of announcing after hours events dates AFTER many people have already bought tickets and secured reservations, thus leaving them having paid more for less than expected, is such a sketchy business practice to me.

And I think they should get rid of the mix-in period. Clear the park first.

With the Disney Merriest Nites announcement, that would have affected 2 nights I planned to be in Disneyland in November. I changed plans a while back so it doesn't affect me now, but I would not be happy if I had already booked flights, hotel, ticket and park reservations, and then have them spring these party dates on me "last minute" and continue to charge me full price while cutting my time short. This business of announcing after hours events dates AFTER many people have already bought tickets and secured reservations, thus leaving them having paid more for less than expected, is such a sketchy business practice to me.

Not sure how its working at DLR, but when I was at WDW last week guest services was selling after hours tickets for Boo Bash the week of, in person. I was able to go in on Monday and could choose Tues or Wed. One reason is that there had been a lot of trip cancellations in FL, so YMMV for CA.
I also heard Disney hotels may have some available for guests.

But some people have dining reservations that are based on their park reservations, and those CAN be hard to get. I agree that they should announce special events prior to reservations going live; however, everything’s been weird this year because Covid. Hopefully next year will be different.

I understand how it would be a non-issue in your particular circumstance. You booked after party dates were announced. So yes, it would be a non-issue, since you could pick and choose your park dates knowing full well what hours would be at each park.

That was not the case for us. My boys had 1 day Park Hoppers. No days to switch around. Definitely an issue. The ease of securing reservations had nothing to do with it.

It's also the principle of the matter. Announce the after hours event dates before reservations are made available for those dates, so people have all the info available as they plan their days.

Or when choosing a date, have something pop up that lets guests know, "hey the park hours that day are from this time to this time"
