DCA entrance through the Grand Californian ?

Thanks. I wonder why I have absolutely no memory of this. Tired after a long day and maybe walked in behind other guests.

Not that anyone cares...but I asked my husband....and yep...when we arrived at the hotel and parked, we were behind people that opened the gate. He went back to the car to get an umbrella a couple days later and said he did have to scan our card to get in.

I'm just really not observant at all, apparently.

If someone has a dining reservation, is there an attendant or anyone near that gate to let them in?

A few months ago, we ate at Napa Rose and parked at GCH. I think we got two hours of free parking (or something like that). When we pulled up to the parking kiosk, the attendant asked for the name on the reservation and checked it against their list before letting us in.

There is no one attending the gate in that way.

The gate is adjacent to the parking attendant/ security, so presumably you could approach them. Alternatively… you could wait for somebody to open the gate. It’s high traffic most of the time, so it wouldn’t be long.
