okay i've read about how wonderful, relaxing dc is as a totally different theme park experience. but we are going in dec. and wonder if it's worth it considering it will probably be a bit too cool to "lounge" in and around the water all day. any thoughts?

iwas wondering about the same thing, we might go in january

We have gone to Discovery Cove twice in the month of December...once in 2001 and once in 2003. Both times were great. The cooler the weather is, in warmer the dolphin and snorel area water feels. Because getting use to 70 degree water when its hot and sunny outside would put you in for a big shock! It even rained on our day in DC in 2003 and still didn't ruin our dolphin swim. I love Discovery Cove, we'd probably go again this year except DS is too young to have much fun in cold water. December is also a great time, because the attendance is so low. We got to swim with THREE dolphins in 2003 because the trainers were told they could give us extra time. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Have a great time, December in my opinion is prime time! :cheer2:

Keep in mind that in Orlando, it might be 80-something degrees or 50-something degrees nearly any winter day. So you may end up with a warm day anyhow. I have been when it is cold out. I'm very wimpy about cold, and I just stayed in the water, getting out only to run to the next body of water. The water tempatures are all controlled, so they are consistent. It's wearing the wetsuit -- aka full body air-conditioner -- that was the worst for me!

I suggest you go and enjoy it. DC is really great to experience.
