DC with a 4 year old

Is there enough to do at DC for a 4 year old? We're going to be in the area in late Sept with a group of 12. I have a DS who will be 8 and a DD who will be 4. Would they both be able to enjoy it?

Does your 4 YO swim at all? They require vest or wet suits for all guests; the vest would keep her afloat. There are lots of things to do other than swim with the dolphins. There is the snorkeling area - even if she can't snorkel, some of the fish come up into the shallow areas which I am sure she would love. My DD learned to snorkel there when she was 5. Plus, there is the ray pool which is shallow, and a regular pool. Sandy areas for beach play too. And, the aviary is great fun - feeding the birds and seeing the little deer is a real treat. The only place where you might not want to take her is on the river - it is not a lazy river; it has some very deep parts; and they only provide noodles, no tubes.

We love it there; took my DD, now 8 back there last October and did the sleep with the Dolphins program, which she just loved.

It all depends on how cranky your kid gets. If your kid will be happy playing in the sand on a beach and hanging out for a few hours making friends with fish in the coral reef lagoon, then yes. If they say, "Can we go?" after 5 minutes, then no.
DC is like visiting Key West, it's a place you go to relax, not chase a 4 year old who doesn't understand how much money you're spending to be there. With 12 people, I'm sure someone will watch the kid, like the 8 year old. The only problem is they both might run off, and then you'll have to constantly watch where they are. You can lay down and relax, but you'll always have to keep an eye on them.

Thankfully my kids are not the type to run off nor are they the type that get bored within minutes. My soon to be 4 year old would love playing on the beach for as long as I'd let her. My 8 year old has been able to snorkel since he was 4 so I'm not at all worried about him. I just wanted to make sure there were other activities along with the dolphin thing.
