DC Groupon has 1/2 price today for their two tours....
The DC Mall/Arlington Cemetery tour and also their nighttime tour. There is numerous negative feedback on TripAdvisor regarding Tourmobile, but I'm tempted by the discount. Any experiences with either of these tours?

We did the washington/arlington tour a year and a half ago. The bus drivers were phenomenal and helped us out with my handicapped grandmother. Bus were running regularly so you could get on and off and explore on your own. I have no qualms recommending this tour to people and have done soe before.

p.s. This is not a paid advertisement. :thumbsup2

We had a bad experience - packed in like sardines, no a/c, very limited buses. I think we only hopped on 3 times, including the one time we had to chance them down, running down the street, and after waiting 40 minutes at a stop in the blaring sun (only to then be stuck in rush hour traffic - we decided to get off and walk).

I've heard great things about the moonlight tour, and would use them to tour Arlington Cemetary, but it was a total waste of money for touring DC. The trolley looked much better.

Last year my sister, two nephews and I used the tourmobile to tour Arlington and DC. It was absolutely fabulous! We went the last week in May, 2010. All of the drivers and narrators were informative and helpful. The signs were clearly visable and marked as to what time they would be picking up. They allowed plenty of time to board and depart the vehicle. The year before that we used the double decker and did not have a good experience. We LOVED the tourmobile! If you need any more specific information about our experience please PM me. If/when we go back we will absolutely use their services again, without a doubt!

We did the moonlight tour on the trolley and the following year, a nighttime tour on a closed bus. The bus tour was awful. The bus was old, smelled like exhaust, was too loud to hear the narrative and we hardly got to appreciate anything. In contrast, the trolley was the best tour we've ever taken anywhere. The ride itself felt like a big part of the experience rather than a ride to the next stop.

So, I don't know what the Groupon deal was for but I would not take another closed bus tour of DC.

Here's what it says the details are:

Choose from the following four options:
•For $16, you get one adult ticket for the Washington & Arlington National Cemetery Tour (a $32 value).
•For $8, you get one children's ticket (ages 3–11) for the Washington & Arlington National Cemetery Tour ticket (a $16 value).
•For $15, you get one adult ticket for the Twilight Tour (a $30 value).
•For $7, you get one children's ticket (ages 3–11) for the Twilight Tour (a $15 value).

I'm debating whether or not to get this. We plan on doing Arlington one day and the monuments another. Probably a night walking tour either with a group or on our own. Actually, the more I look at it, it might not be a good deal for us. You can buy 1 adult ticket and multiple kids tickets, but DD is 13 so she'd need an adult ticket.

Hope it works well for others to take advantage of it!
