DC Cabana Location Request??

Hi All

I have planned to reserve a Cabana for our day at Discovery Cove.

We have never been to DC before, so I am not familiar with its size or layout

I think I would like to request to be facing serenity bay, I feel like the kids could play on the sand, and it is centrally located to bathrooms, grill and bar

Does anyone has any advice on choosing a location? I want to be central and be able to see my kids.

Is serenity bay a pool?? is it zero entry?

Serenity Bay is a zero entry beach into a pool-like area that serves as a main entrance into the lazy river (Wind Away). This would be a nice area. We have only had ones that are on the beach by the Grand Reef and by the rocks at the Dolphin Lagoon. We enjoyed both of them, but the Grand Reef location is a ways from the rest of the action. If you are looking for a centralized location, I think the ones near Serenity Bay would be nice. There are some nicely shaded ones by the Freshwater Oasis, but I'm not thrilled by their location.

I was told when we booked ours that you can't request which one they give you. They just allocate you one. Don't know if that was just the member of staff I spoke to who was having a bad day or whatever but don't want you to be disappointed if they won't accept requests.

I read a trip report recently of someone who had a Cabana near Freshwater Oasis. When it started to rain (not sure if it was a thunderstorm) that area of the park was closed and they could not use their cabana for quite some time. Others who had cabanas in other parts of the park could wait out the rain in the comfort of their cabana.

Sure wouldn't be thrilled to pay so much and then not to be able to use it all day.

We were there last week and had a cabana near the Great Reef. It worked out perfectly for us, since that was our favorite area. But the park is not so big that any of the cabana areas is really inconvenient to the other areas of DC. I think that the ones near the dolphin swim pools would be awesome too!

We had to leave the water for a while and we were waiting things out in the cabana. Then the lightning got really close and they moved us into the SeaVenture building. I really didn't like being told we couldn't leave that building, but I do understand that it was for our safety. And we weren't really stuck there that long (it just seemed like it.)

If we go back, and I really want to, we would probably splurge on a cabana again. And I'm so glad we got the CD/DVD/picture package!!!

Thanks for your input!!! I was thinking about the dolphin area too! I think my kids would love that! but that is surrounded by rocks i think? anyone?

I don't know where all the cabanas are located but we too had the grand reef area and loved it. The kids could play in the sand right in front of us, they could get in the water and we could see them the whole time (7 and 13). What I liked was that it was (at the time cause the new section wasn't done) sort of the end of the road so not much traffic by the cabanas.

Whatever section you end up in is going to be great. We were told you can "request" but not always guaranteed.

Thank you all for your input!! I decided to change the location request to overlook the dolphin lagoon area

I figured when else will my children be able to see this most special area.

we can overlook a beach anytime (which was my original request) so I hope we enjoy this area

If anyone has been in this section before please advise!!!!
