DC and Fins?????

We are already booked for DC and I am awaiting anxiously! My DH asked me a question and as obsessive as I am, I didn't have an answer for him.

Can you wear swin fins @ DC? I know about the westsuits and vests which aren't a problem, but he wants to use fins also for snorkeling. Anyone who can answer this?

The reservation information says to leave your scuba gear at home. I would think this includes fins. Normally parks like this don't allow fins because they want to give the fish a chance to get away from people if they want and that's what the bottom is for! I'm pretty sure they had fins when Typhoon Lagoon opened and then stopped giving them out because of that. Plus, who wants to worry about someone coming up underneath them?

I just re-read my reservation info and it says you can bring your own mask and snorkel. I would think if they let you bring your own fins, they would put it there.

I seem to remember being told you arent allowed fins. We went in Sept 2004 and my brother had his own fins but he didnt use them.

They don't allow them and you really don't need them there - small and calm enough to get everywhere, even for a kid.

You are not allowed to use fins.
I wouldn't bother with my own snorkel equipment...they even have prescription lense snorkel masks to use while there (you borrow them from the main gift shop, any employee will be able to direct you to them and you just have to leave a credit card number as a deposit on the prescription masks...they are worth hundreds of dollars so I guess that DC wants to make sure none of them leave the park). You do not get to keep your mask (no matter if it's one of the fancy "prescription" ones or not). That is only for your use during the day.

However you are allowed to keep your snorkel. All of the sunscreen, shampoo, lotion, soap and conditioner you might need are provided as well as an unlimited supply of fresh fluffy towels.

This is one of my very favorite places to spend a day...in the past three years we have gone twice. It's not Disney, but it's magic in a way all it's own.

One thing I forgot to mention, make sure you wear aqua socks (water shoes)...that FL sun makes the ground H-O-T and the rocks around the tropical reef are pretty rough. Don't plan on wearing sandals (even the Teva like strappy kind) as they are not allowed.
