I was thinking about whe we go down to get a package or two of rolls (like hamburger rolls) I have a tupperware container that would elimanate the "squoosh" problem. But so I can split them up-each person gets a single burger instead.

I think I read somewhere that families were doing this. I believe they just bought an extra bun from the restaurant they were at. That would save you having to carry it.

I heard that either they won't sell you an extra bun any longer, or else that the price was something ridiculous. But just hearsay - never tried it myself.

In 2007 got an extra bun all over with no problem and usually for free. I think once or twice was charged $1.

This summer I only asked for it once and it rang up as $3.99 so I told the cashier to cancel it. She did not speak English very well, and I am not sure if she actually rang up a bun, or actually a separate burger. I just cut it in half instead.

I think bringing your own buns is a smart idea, I might do that next time.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in the Magic Kingdom has a double burger on the menu.

With the awesome fixings bar - sauteed mushrooms, onions, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, shredded cheddar cheese you can split the double burger even if you didn't have the extra bun.

I'm a celiac (gluten intolerant) and can't eat anything with gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats) and the burger without the bun loaded with the free fixings was was very filling, and much healthier than with the added carbs of the bun - didn't miss that bread at all on that meal!
