i could not be more excited that in less than a month my boyfriend of almost 2 years and I will be in the world (his first time!!) :lovestruc , but he does not seem as excited. We're only touring the world for two days, doing MK and Epcot, (free hotel in Daytona, don't want to drive the hour 5 days a week). Still, money is tight. I wish I had some cool thing that he would just love to do in the parks. Does anyone have some not so expensive, no reservations needed ideas??

Hi Book,
Last year i was in kind of the same situation. I was planning a surprise trip to Disney for his 30th birthday and he had not a clue where we were going until I got him to the airport. From the moment I started to book the trip (which was 9 months prior) he said the only place where he didnt want to go was WDW. I was so worried that he was going to hate it but when we got there he loved it so so much. He couldnt stop looking at things, asking questions, and taking pictures. I was shocked of how much a great time he had. Fortunatley he LOVED IT and we are going back this year for my birthday.

I know that you only have 2 days there so just enjoy it as much as you could but make sure that you check out the firework displays in both parks they are unbelievable. My bf enjoyed them alot and wanted to watch them again.
GL and come back and tell me how he enjoyed it!

HAVE FUN! :wave2:

disney is on priceline.....

so you might be able to stay on property and not have to drive back.

2 1/2 stars - $36 - it is All Stars Sports.

I agree with the fireworks display!

I had the same last year, OH agreed to go to Florida but did not think he would like a theme park. He loved it and can't wait to go back, I think Disney works its' magic on most people.

An inexpensive thing to do could be go out the back end of epcot, walk over to the boardwalk to the bakery, get something really yummy and fattening and sit on the benches and eat. I LOVE to do this and it could be romantic at dusk.
He'll love disney, they always do!

I agree - I was afraid my DH wouldn't like the parks the 1st time I took him last May - we are now eagerly awaiting our 5th trip since then!!

Wait until he gets there, he will probably love it!!

Last year (Sept/Oct) was the first time SO had been to WDW since he was a kid (and then it was only a day trip). I am a FL native vet of WDW!!! ;) Of course I wanted to drag him to my favorite place on earth. When the free dining promo came up last year, I figured it was the perfect time to take him. He was completely not interested in planning AT ALL! Didn't care which parks, which rides, which restaurants. I had booked us for 5 nights w/ free dining, but only the 3 day FL-res. myw pass. Everything changed as soon as we got to a park. He was a closet theme-park-commando! :teeth: He was running from ride to ride and chastizing me for walking too slowly. When we got back home he talked about how much fun he had, and how he wanted to go back again really soon (he wanted to go in Jan. at first, but work/budget made Oct. better for us again).

Things he liked:
-MK!!! (esp. BTMRR, Space Mt, and Splash MT)
-Motor stunt show at MGM
-Pop Century resort (we had a great king bed room in the 50's section [req.] with a pool view)
-refillable mug that he could get apple juice in at resort
-Boma for breakfast
-one morning we strolled around the boardwalk and sat on some benches at SeaBreeze Point and just watched the boats on the water (he wanted to rent a water sprite-we might do that next time)

Things he didn't really like:
-Epcot (this made me sad as it is my fav park)
-M:S (he actually needed the air sickness bag  I felt so bad for him[*M:S castmembers really do a good job about this, there were benches just outside the ride vehical in the exit hallway, one castmember got him a cup of water, and another more official looking gentleman (not in a ride costume, but polo and slacks) came to inquire about him], but he says he thinks it was b/c it was so early in the am -EMH- and all he had eaten yet was a banana, so he wants to try it again)
-some of the table service meals I had chosen (incl. Spoodles, 'Ohana)
-the fact that Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is gone (I had told him about this, but it was one of the only rides he remembered as a kid!!)
-astro orbiters
-that we only had 3 park days
-that I hadn't resserved Coral Reef for dinner (this was his one dining request, but I turned it down b/c it was 2 TS credits at the time, plus I don't eat seafood)

This next trip, I have ressies for 7 nights (but am considering adding 1 night on the end). I have 7 day tix (as part of my package), but we are going to up-grade them to the FL res. seasonal pass when we arrive. I have planned for many buffet restaurants because he is kind of a picky eater, and can find more things to try this way. I have also made a ressie at the Coral Reef, it is now 1 TS credit, so a lot more doable for a non-seafood eater like myself! I have also planned for a ton of time at MK for him.

I'm taking my DBF for the first time this November (not really his first time, he was 5 when he went before, only to MK, and they stayed off property). He's really excited but everything excites him.

The first time we went in '93 my Dad did NOT want to go. He thought it was ridiculous to spend so much money and time in a "kiddie" park. Now he and I count down seconds to our next trip.

It's hard for people who have never been to comprehend what Disney is like. Have fun on your trip and good luck!

I also wanted to add go to www.allearsnet.com. On the top of the page click on "Planning", scroll down and on the left hand side under "For Guests without Children" click on "Romance". There's an interview with the couple who wrote "WDW for Couples" and they answer questions about romantic things to do around WDW.

Epcot is my absolute favorite park. They have the Flower and Garden festival going on right now and there is alot of amazing scenery......all of the pavillions have different garden themes. There are a ton of beautiful old bonsai in the Japanese pavillion. You can also get some authentic worldly food for a good deal if you look around. For instance, there is a fish and chip stand in the UK pavillion, or you could order some dim sum ala carte at China. They have several "street" performances during the day (some are a little cheesy, but some are really cool......like the Japanese drummers). And fireworks are a must! Go to the railing by the bridge that seperates France and England and there is stairway down alomst to the water. That was actually what DH and I did on our very first date!
And don't worry, he will love it. Once you get there, budget worries go out the window. He may want to go back for a third visit! :goodvibes
