Mods-didn't know where to post this.

We are planning a day trip to Daytona Beach in the next two weeks. How are they faring?

Should we make other plans? Any beaches within 1 to 1-1/2 hours from WDW?

I can't comment on the current condition down there, but CoCoa Beach is a little closer to Orlando than Daytona ( and nicer IMO, but I haven't been to Daytona in many years.) Where are you supposed to stay? Maybe you can call down and see how things are. We are going to Disney next week, but I would be more concerned about coastal areas. We have driven to CoCoa from WDW in the past, the drive seems really looooong. We have also driven to Tampa from Orlando, Florida is much wider than it seems!

I would like to know how things are in Clearwater Beach, We are going there after our WDW visit . We had to cancel our Southwest Florida trip because the Resort we were going to stay at was damaged and can't open til Dec. So if anyone from that area could let us know it would be great.

Actually, just wanted to do a day trip from WDW (have never been to the beaches in all our visits to Florida). If there is major damage there I wouldn't think it would make sense to make the trip.

How long of a drive is it to Clearwater? Are the beaches nice, shopping. sights etc?

I think you will find a lot of the coastal beaches have been washed away. I know there was beach damage in Cocoa, Melbourne and Daytona Beach.
