Hoping you DIS members can help us out with some input.
We plan on doing our regular trip to Disney World this year but thought we may add a few days and drive to Daytona Beach and stay there for 2 or 3 nights. Do you think we'll be disappointed after leaving the Happiest Place one Earth or will we have a good time?
Also, can you recommend a nice place on the beach to stay. I'm not at all familiar with the area and it's been over 20 years since my husband has been to Ormond Beach.
Or should we add a few more days to our stay at Disney and perhaps drive to the beach?
We would like something with a resort feel or at least a very nice hotel if we stay.
TIA!

We always leave Disney and go to Daytona. It's my lay on the beach and do nothing time before coming home.
I don't know what you are looking for in a hotel but we have stayed at Coral Sands which is very nice. The main tower of the hotel was just re-built after the last hurricane. Also, Ocean Jewels was always nice, its been a couple of years since we have stayed there.
This year I am taking my fur baby's with me so we need to say in pet friendly.
We go to Daytona almost every year for spring break so if you have any other questions you can PM and I will answer what I can.

We're looking for a place that is kid friendly and in a nice area with amenities.
(Swimming pool, perhaps breakfast, etc)
Any nice seafood restaurants nearby?

Thanks again!

Bubba Gumps is our favorite. We eat there at least once every trip. Aunt Catfishes is also very good. Coral Sands is in Ormond, so it is not as crowded as Daytona. We have 2 kids so we have always stayed kid friendly. I don't know how old your kids are but you may want to say in a traffic free area of the beach.

We've stayed at the Hilton Ocean Walk. Our room was REALLY nice. The only suggestion I have is to check what's going on in Daytona during your stay. We went through one time and there was a convention going on (doesn't sound bad right!) Well "women" were getting arrested all over the place for prostitution, people were getting pulled over and arrested for driving around with SUVs (nice ones) without license plates. There were police ALL over the place. It was just crazy. :scared1: We didn't stay there that visit ;) Personally, I would drive down and stay a day or 1 night and add more time to your Disney stay.
