Daytona Beach info.anyone?

We are driving down from PA to FL at the end of June. We normally go to Cocoa beach or Clearwater one day during our stay.
This time we are planning to stop at Daytona on the drive down and would like to hit the beach for maybe 2 hours before we drive the rest of the way to Orlando, it will be on a Friday afternoon, maybe from 1-3ish.
I have only been to Daytona once...back in 1997 when I was a child.

Just curious as to if the beach is free, can you still drive on it and where is a family friendly place/street to choose to go on the beach???

Also what exit is the best one to get off at from I95 and where is the best place to park on the beach. Need a spot near public restrooms!!!!

I can answer some of your questions.

We usually stay at Daytona one night when we go and we love the area around Perry's Hotel so if you goggle that it will show you where to get off the I-95 and take you to a great place on the beach.

Beach is still free and yes, you can drive along it so this may also help you to find a better spot with restrooms. There are always people along that stretch of the beach renting items like chairs, umbrellas, boards.
