I have been pressured by my hubby and kids into giving up 2 nights at Hilton Head in favor of 2 nights at Daytona Beach, IF I can find a room on such short notice. I will need to cancel Hilton Head by tomorrow morning, so I've been looking online at Daytona Beach lodging(the website is daytonabeach.com), but I am confused by the location of hotels. Does anyone know the difference in a North Atlantic avenue location versus a South Atlantic avenue location? Can anyone suggest a nice(nothing fancy) hotel for a family of 2 adults and 4 kids(16,15,12,11), which has adjoining rooms(we'll need 2) or suites that won't require a second mortgage to pay for? We just want to spend time on the beach for 2 nights(next Fri. and Sat) after a week in Orlando. Thanks to any and all for the help!

:cool1: Don't know if you still need the help but I have the answer. N. Atlantic is in Ormond Beach and S. Atlantic is actually Daytona. Most of the hotels on N. Atlantic are timeshare or not very nice IMO. S. Atlantic has a nice mixture. Also the farther down you go towards Main St. The more traffic you get as the BoardWalk is there. The Adams Mark is nice but expensive. As for the rest of the hotels I can't advise. I live nearby. HTH

My absolute favorite hotel is oceanwalk resort. www.oceanwalk.com

I will never stay anywhere else but here. It is on the beach where no traffic is allowed. It has a pool with a water slide, (4 pools all together(2 in /2 large poolsout)) including a kiddie pool area(sort of like a mini water park for the young ones. 3 jacuzzis outside. Rooms are clean and they have larger rooms. Definitely go with oceanfront if you choose this hotel, the standards have have one window in the bedroom that looks out into the hallway, but would stay in it if I did not want to spend alot(I think they have a special for $129 right now.Check out the hot deals on the website. We fit 6 people when we went in August in an one bedroom oceanfront(not it says only 4, not sure why)We had a bedroom with 2 double beds and a pull out sofa in the living room The room also comes equipped with full size fridge, stove, microwave, and even has a washer and dryer in the room that you can use free of charge tand they supply you with the detergent when we were there. They would leave boxes of tide everyday. Check out the reviews at www.tripadvisor.com

They also have an indoor mini golf that is free of charge, and activites galore. I have stayed there twice and will never stay anywhere else. The price is so worth it. They had a cookout everyday while we were there(for a charge) they also had a dj which was really nice, very family oriented. He did tug o war, adults verse kids, on the beach, my kids(7,10) loved it. They had a place where you can get your hair wrapped(cheaper than disney). If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Agree with previous poster Oceanwalk is a great place. It is part timeshare, part hotel and part year round condos. Amenities are outstanding. My kids love the waterslides and lazy river.

We live in Ormond Beach, and we would suggest The Sun Viking Lodge in south Daytona. On A!A, On the Ocean. Great family resort, much more affordable then Ocean Walk, and more family oriented. When we lived in NY we stayed there and it was beautiful. Not high end like the Ocean Walk but comparable to a Holiday inn.

We love living here, have a great time on the worlds most famous beach.
