Daytona Beach Florida ?

We are looking at going to Florida in mid September. We have gone to Siesta Key, but thinking of trying something new. We want to stay on the beach and were thinking of trying Daytona Beach. Any suggestions for lodging? TIA!

We did 2 space shuttle trips over the last 6 months, one in April and one in July. For both trips we stayed in New Smyrna Beach. It is just south of Daytona. We stayed right on the beach at the Holiday Inn.

The room wasn't fancy but it was large with 2 beds, a pull out couch and a kitchenette with full size fridge. It was right on the beach and all rooms have ocean views. It honestly was one of the best hotel values I have ever gotten! Staff was friendly and we had a fantastic trip both times. There are restaurants within 1 mile walk up the beach. Made a nice walk to dinner each evening. Not sure if you have kids (mine are 11, 9, & 6). This was the perfect hotel for us space, money, and entertainment-wise. Spent lots of time boogie boarding right in front of the hotel. New Smyrna is a really nice little town. It has the needed places (Wal-mart, Walgreens, restaurants) without being overly touristy. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
