Daytona activities for a day??

A buddy and I will be in Florida in Nov for the FSU Homecoming and we are staying in Jacksonville. We plan to arrive early on Friday and will have the rest of the day unplanned. We thought of going to Daytona for the day, but other than swimming or the track, what else is there to do for a few hours?

Well, going to the beach or the speedway will easily kill a few hours. They have Daytona USA at the speedway which is an attraction that will take a couple hours to do. Depending on when you are going in Nov., they have the antique car show Thanksgiving week but the cars usually trickle in before than and are set up around Bellair Plaza. There are some beachside watering holes that might be fun, like the Ocean Deck or the Oyster pub, or some places on Main st. where the bikers hang out, or Carribean Jacks on Beach St. Sometimes they have "downtown Daytona Nights" on the weekend evenings on beach st. featuring entertainment and food.The area around the Adams Mark has been redone and there are movies and a bubba gumps restaurant down there and sometimes entertainment at the bandshell. Just driving your car on the beach and hanging out on the beach on a beautiful November day might turn out to be how you want to spend the day. The weather is usually really nice at that time of year. Good Luck.
