Days to Disney Calendar

Ok, my 4 yo DD has been waking up every day wanting to go to Disney. I had to make this calender so she could understand how many days she needs to wake up before we go to Disney. Every morning, she runs down stairs and pulls another Mickey Head off the calander. I think she finally got the message

It's made of Felt, ribbon and stick on numbers from scrapbooking.

Thanks for sharing. We told our 3 year old son last week that we would be going to Disney World soon, and now he asks every morning if 'we're going to Disney today'.

We were thinking of making a calendar, but hadn't put much thought into it yet. Ours will probably be made of construction paper, but yours gives us incentive.

We have a similar calendar, only I wasn't NEARLY as crafty....I use the mickey shaped paint samples from Home Depot....and I just wrote the date on them (hanging my head in loser crafter shame) I aslo grabbed enough to make paper ornaments to put on our tree for our vacation this december!
You're right, kids love being able to do the countdown...and in case anyone is wondering, no, I did not take ALL the samples at HD...I used rubber cement on the wall calendar and I re-use the same numbered mickeys over each month.

Ha! I used the paper chain also. I thought it was dramatic when I pulled it out when my daughter woke up at the airport before our departure.

Me too! At least my DD thought it was great! I'll make sure she doesn't see a pic of this AWESOME calendar!!

I did make a Mickey head out of black construction paper for the end of the chain & wrote on it "We're going to Disney World". She thought it was the best thing ever! When we started the chain we had 90 days & it went across one whole wall of the toy room...it's getting smaller & smaller!!!

Paper Chain Losers! Unite!

We, too, like kimwim8, made a Mickey head out of black construction paper for the last chain. Thinking we were so cool............... We only used the colors black, red, white and yellow so it looks like Mickey colors.

I'm definitely going to do something like Dizzy for our next trip. That is so adorable. Thanks for sharing your idea.

first of all, that calendar is freggin' cool!!!

however to the rest of you, i will see your paper chains, and raise you a calendar with the numbers hand written on them. and its not even a real calendar either. its just sheet printed off from outlook that we get at work that lists everyone's vacation days for the month. so i basically have a piece of paper hanging on my cubicle wall with all sorts of notes on it, and the also has my countdown.

ha!! i win the loser countdown!!!

We do one too, but opposite. We have 7 weeks on our calendar and everyday closer, my daughter, husband and myself will each add a Disney sticker to the day. There is already something on the day we go that says something like "xxxxxx Family Disney Vacation"
It is quite cute, and we can cut some of the squares from the calendar out and use them in our scrapbooks.

imamicki2, a paper chain calender is made by taking 1 inch strips of construction paper, stapling them together and making a chain. Usually you take one off each morning, leaving as many pieces of chain left that match the number of days left until your trip. So if you have 45 days until you leave for Disney, you make a cain with 45 construction paper links.

I'm sure you would know one if you saw it.

Wow, Dizzy4Dizney, great idea...and so well made. Thanks for the posting the pic, too. I like the visual. I, like many others, have done the paper chain in the past. Maybe I'll get creative and do something like your calendar this year.
