Hi everyone! We (two adults and two kids, ages 7 and 10) are less then two weeks from vacation  and just planning our final itinerary.

We already bought our Citypasses. The first part of the vacation will be a day in Hollywood, two days (Mon and Tues with hopes of less crowds) in Disney (thank you Hydroguy for every post you have ever created!!!), one day at Universal and a day to relax. Then off to San Diego for a few days!

We are trying to figure out when to do Legoland, Seaworld and the Zoo, while balancing a day or two off to see La Jolla and relax some more. Right now we have Seaworld scheduled for Thursday and Legoland for Friday, but I'm concerned about lines at Legoland. I'm not that familiar with Seaworld and don't know how bad the lines there get during the summer. I'm toying with the idea of switching Seaworld to Friday and doing Legoland on Thursday, figuring the lines in Legoland would be shorter on Thursday.

1) Any advice anyone could give would be appreciated.

2) I am also looking for touring plans for Seaworld- I saw the one for Legoland on a recent posting.

We usually do Disneyworld during the off-season when there are no lines. This is our first California trip and the idea of dealing with summer lines is taking some adjusting!

Thanks for any responses!

I would switch Legoland to Thursday and Sea World to Friday. I've only been to Legoland once... on a Monday... it was really crowded. I couldn't imagine going on a weekend or anything. We have APs to Sea World. Fridays are more crowded than Thursdays, but still manageable.

A touring plan for Sea World really depends on the ages of the people going and what they are interested in.

I prefer to do the exhibits early in the morning (catching a ride on Atlantis shortly after it opens). Sometimes Atlantis opens with Sea World, other times it opens 1-2 hours later. I usually head to the right (though the SkyTower is included in admission now, so last time we did that first), catching Atlantis first if it is open, then going around to Wild Artic, the penguins and sharks. We haven't seen the new turtle exhibit yet, but I think it's between the sharks and penguins. Be sure to catch the Blue Horizons show, Clyde and Seymour and Shamu. I see Cirque and Pets Rule as optional, so use your own judgment there. We don't normally do the "little" aquariums on a single-day visit. They just aren't as good as other aquariums we've been to. My girls like the tide pools. When given a choice, I prefer to do the exhibits early and shows later (I hate crowded exhibits, but crowded shows are fine). We don't usually ride Shipwreck Rapids, but the line for it varies greatly - usually shorter earlier in the day, but I've seen it short late afternoon as well, so who knows?

If your kids are little, they'll probably like the Bay of Play and maybe the Sesame Street 4D movie. the Bay of Play lines get long in the evening, so plan accordingly. You may be able to get away w/o these w/ your kids. We're always there w/ our 4 and 6 yr olds...

If you're going on a fireworks night and are watching the Shamu Rocks show just before, then sit in the Shipwreck Rapids side of the stadium (as opposed to the main entrance side) and you will have a good view of the fireworks from your seats.

Also, we really like the dolphin feeding, so check your times guide when you arrive - I think it's usually at 10 and 12, but does vary. It is $6 a person, but a lot of fun.

So, not meaning to jack this thread, but we are planning a legoland day and a seaworld day but on Sunday and monday.. whats the best way to do it?
it'll be the 21st and 22nd.. I looked at the seaworld site but it doesn't show the shows that'll be on the monday and the hours are currently listed as 10-7:30 on monday but 9-9 on sunday...

Any advice?

The 9-9 Sea World day should have Sea Lions Tonight (we like this show better than Sea Lions Live - they poke fun at the other Sea World shows), Shamu Rocks! and possibly fireworks. The 7:30 closing day will most likely not have any of those shows. I would probably do Sea World Sunday and Legoland Monday. Both would be more crowded on Sunday, but with Sea World's extended hours an special nighttime shows, I would think it would be the best park to be in on a Sunday. I still recommend exhibits and rides in the morning (lower crowds) and shows in the afternoon/evening.

Have fun!

Thanks, I like your strategy of doing rides before shows.. I'd rather wait for a show to start than wait a long time for lines to rides and other displays :-)

Legoland gets loads of kids camps through - but they all leave between 2-3. Best bet for the big rides is to hit them first thing if you can get in line before the camps, then wait until the camps leave and the lines will go down alot. I'm not sure when it ends, but right now LL has a dinner deal where you pay for the adult meal and the kid eats free at sit-down restaurants.

If anyone's got long hair and plans on riding Knight's Tournament, bring your own ponytail holder - they require that your hair be pulled back and provide you with rubber bands...Ouch!

Make sure to save time for Miniland - it's not just something you're going to cut-through on your way to somewhere else. There are things to notice and touches of humor everywhere - a guy on the john at Grand Central Station, a stick-up in New Orleans...

We did Miniland after official closing and were still able to wander through at a leisurely pace. I agree, it's not to be missed!

Thanks for the responses and advice. Can't wait for the vacation!
