Daylight Savings Time changes

Positively thrilled with the idea!! Can't wait! :thumbsup2

I guess the kids won't like having to start trick-or-treating in the daylight. Usually it is dark by 5:30ish on Halloween since the clocks just changed over, but now it won't be dark until 6:30. That could mean less candy for the kids.

That's weird, around here most kids start when it's still light. We've been saying fo ryears that we wished it ended a week later so it would be light later on Halloween.

What about all of us who get up very early and go to bed early? Where the heck is OUR extra daylight? I hate DST, it messes with my body clock and for as long as I've been aware of it, I can see absolutely NO bonus or benefit. As to the 'children playing outside' issue. How many children actually play outside after school in March? It's cold, it's wet. If you need more light, get a lamp. Time should be constant. How did I miss this change and WHO approved it? I'm not voting for any of them ever again, lol!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: That's a funny post thanks for the chuckle :rotfl2:

My kids must be weird they play outside almost every day.

Wow Information Technology at a University, That must be at the highest level of the Information Technology Scale. I'll tell you what, Get your head out of You know where and start taking some peeks at some IT sites and see how many patches have to be applied to some of the Operating Systems to handle the change. Insert Idiot Smiley face here

Well aren't you the sweetest little thing?

I love it! I like to go walking after dinner, but not in the dark.

I am thrilled especially cause I am training for the Minnie, now I can goo walk outside in the daylight....WOOHOOO!!!!

Thank you DST fairy :worship: :rotfl:

Then they won't mind it it's dark!
Hey, I'd be fine if they decided to go permanently on DST, it's the stupid changes I hate!!! More light later in the day all the time is OK. Hello-why do we NEED to change? If we can be on DST 8 months of the year, why not all of them?

Everything you ever wanted to know about DST. :teeth:

Since 1966, most of the United States has observed Daylight Saving Time from at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April to 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. Beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.

DST Begins at 2 a.m. - March 11

DST Ends at 2 a.m. - November 4

The rest of the story.

They're 2, 3 & 6, I'm not about to let them run around the yard when I can't even see them :rolleyes2 . We get it, you don't like DST, some people do, big deal.

I never knew people had so much anger towards something so silly.:confused3

I guess that means I can start jogging after work in the evenings a few weeks earlier now. I usually give it up until the clocks change back. Oh joy!

Hey, Grump - I keep telling you - it's that Evil Queen pic in your signature. It brings out the hostility in everyone!;)

And I agree with what you said about trick-or-treating! That was always my complaint when my kids were little - it got dark so fast!:( We live in a rural area, no streets, no street lights, narrow roads.

Daylight SAVING time, NO S on Saving!!!!

during DST, it's nice and light at 4:30 AM when my dog likes to go out for the first time of many in the morning. I like it being light out at that time, I can see the coyotes better and know NOT to go out for a few minutes!!!

Plus my teams can practice/play during the last week of October, where before we had to practice in the dark because there are only 2 lights on the building behind our Gym. They can't go down to the regular fields as there are NO lights down there.

AND they can get out earlier in March, normally we have to start games at 3:30 p.m. until DST starts, then we switch to 4:00 p.m. starts. At least this year, DST starts on the first Sunday of our spring break, so I don't have to worry about my students being on time for work/practices that day, they'll all be on vacation!

I caught a blurb about this 2 weeks ago -- I don't think everyone really knows about it just yet.:confused3 I really haven't seen much on TV or the news about it.

:thumbsup2 I had heard rumblings that it was going to change but had no idea when that was going to be! I had no idea it was this year & I have heard ZILCH on the radio/TV, etc... You would think since it's next month they would inform people. My calendar still says April 1 it should change this year & that is what I would have gone by.

Good thing I read this because my DD has a cheerleading competition on March 11. Wonder how many people are going to be all confused that day! Let's see it's Spring forward, which means people will be an hour late if they don't change. :scared1: This should be interesting.

The problem is that your OS may not realize that the change happened early, so you might have to do it manually.

Our computer clocks are set to syncrhoize with the atomic clock or something like that, so it *should* do it automatically but what do I know. That's DH department. We usually have at least 1 or 2 clocks throughout the house that never gets changed so they are correct for 1/2 the year. It's usually the VCR ones, not worth the hassle to change them.

I'm looking forward to it! Can't wait for March. The days will be longer!! I haven't heard anything on the news/radio but just notice the change on my calendar. I'm sure a lot of people will be thrown off.

Actually it's not silly. I have a hard enough time getting my son up at 7:30 to get to school. With DST, it will feel like 6:30. It'll be hard enough for me to get up that early, but he'll be a bear. And he can't go to bed any earlier. I've tried. He's like me; we're night owls.

during DST, it's nice and light at 4:30 AM when my dog likes to go out for the first time of many in the morning.

That shouldn't be the case. During DST the sun comes up later. :confused3
