Has anyone taken the day trip from Disney to Paris? Is it a good idea for a first look at Paris? I'll be with my 12 year old daughter - never been to Paris. We'll be at DLP for 7 days so we'll obviously be going to Paris several times, but I thought the first time could be the organized trip.... any comments?

I didn't do that tour, but I bet it is expensive. For a more economical route... Are you familiar with the hop-on-hop-off red buses in London? They have the same thing in Paris. I would have done that if I weren't already with an organized tour. You can get up to a two day pass (I think) and that gives you discounts at some of the attractions. You can ride the bus around the whole loop the first time for a general tour, and then keep riding and hopping off to see the sights you want to see.

Also, a boat ride on the Seine is a Definite must. It's gorgeous and a good preview of things you might want to visit.

Jodyb,
I agree with DocRafiki. The red bus is very convenient. If you take the RER from the train station at Disneyland you can go straight to the Champs Elysees (Etoile stop) and catch the red bus as you exit from the RER. You can purchase tickets on the bus for approximately $25 each for 2 consecutive days. during which you can hop on/hop off. There is another on/off bus run by the RATP that has a slightly different route - same idea with unlimited use.
You will enjoy Paris!
