I am thinking of taking a side trip to a beach on the atlantic side. Can anyone tell me of a good family beach we can go to just for the day.

Thanks,

Cocoa Beach is roughly due east on the Atlantic side. Allow about 1-1.5 hours to drive there. Take I-4 east to Rt 528 (the Beach Line) east to Cocoa.

We drive up to Daytona Beach for the day. :laundy:
We usually have a Lincoln Town car or Cadillac DTS. :cool1:
It's about an hour and a half drive. :rolleyes1
We drive on the beach and park the car.
We go in the water, hang around the beach for a while before we walk around town and buy a couple of T-shirts. :cheer2:
Good Luck All,
Joe

I like Daytona, too, because it really is nice to be able to park on the beach. My friends who live there suggest going to the Daytona Beach Shores because its less developed and there are some spots with restrooms. It is south of Ormond Beach and North of Daytona Beach.

Daytona Beach Shores is actually south of both Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach.

Consider Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral, directly east of Orlando and just north of Cocoa Beach. If you're there from 4pm to 5pm on certain days of the week you'll see the cruise ships depart from Port Canaveral, immediately next to the beach. They blow their horns; Disney ships play When You Wish Upon A Star with their horns as they sail out. Passengers all wave down on the people watching from the beach, and v.v. Lot of fun! To get there take the Beachline (TOLL 528) straight east and it dead-ends right into Port Canaveral and Jetty Park. Impossible to miss....stop when you get to water!

At Daytona Beach I didn't stop when I got to the water, but not by choice.
A rogue wave splashed us at high tide. Luckily we had the windows rolled up and no water got in the Caddilac.:banana::banana:
Good luck all,
Joe
