Ok so we booked up for March 20th-25th and paid our deposit. Whoop woop.

Now, we are looking to have at least half a day in Paris itself but not sure what the best (by best i mean cheapest lol) option is.

Any advice appreciated.

When looking for train costs i see the TGV would cost us about €120 for a return. There 2 adults and 2 kids 4 & 8 yrs old.

I had thought that maybe there could be a way of visiting the city on the day of our departure so wondered if there was aNYWHERE in the city you can hire a locker or leave cases ? Our flight is at 6pm roughly so we could have half day if we could find somewhere for our cases on the last day and save on extra transport costs which a day trip would encur.

Hello :)

Not sure about the TGV bit in relation to Paris :confused3

You can go into Paris from DLP using the RER and your cheapest option for a ticket would be a Mobilis pass which costs 14€ pp for the day.

It takes around 45 minutes to get into central Paris

You would then leave from Paris on the RER B direct to the airport using the same pass

You can leave your bags at any of the train stations in Paris, they have left luggage areas but I don't know off hand the cost

If you wanted to do a full day in the middle of your DLP stay just use the Mobilis and go as early as you want (trains run from around 5.00am) and stay as long as you like (trains stop running back to DLP after 0.00)

Not sure that a half day visit is of any vallue nor is a day trip for that matter unless you're staying fairly local to Paris - so much to see and do but that's only my view.

Others closer to Paris may be able to advise re luggage storage - normally we leave luggage in the hotel and pick up later but in this instance that's the wrong direction for you by some!

If you do visit, you'll be facing taking your luggage into Paris on the train and from there to the airport. I presume that your flying from CDG? There is a frequent non stop bus service from the Opera to CDG if you'd prefer that over the metro.

Your call!

Yeh sorry we fly from CDG.

Thanks Carrie - i didn't know about th RER thing but thats excellent news. So around €56 for the 4 of us sounds ideal if we do a day trip or perhaps on last day.

ap156 - its just a short sightseeing tour mainly to see the Eiffel tower and perhaps stroll down the Champs-Elysses. I've been to Paris a few times many many years ago but my wife and kids have never been. The main holiday will of course be DLP but would be nice to pop in and spend a few hours in Paris itself as it really is a beautiful City.

If your flight leaves at 6.00 pm don't forget that you'll have to be there at least an hour before if you've checked in on line and that CDG is a very large disorganised airport so add on extra time to find your terminal and desk for leaving your bags.

I wouldn't risk taking the bus late afternoon as you will be hitting rush hour traffic and it can take 60-90 minutes depending on the day to go from central Paris to the airport.

As CC suggested, do tend to think the best option is to do the major sights on one of the days before the last day, solves the luggage issue!!!

My wife and I walked the length of the Champs-Elysses and then down to the Tower during the evening - sparkling lights on the tower every hour on the hour when we were there late April / early May - wedding anniversary (no kids!).

Bus would be a no anyway, hate buses lol. What about the rer train from Paris to the airport ?

As stated by CC, leave from Paris on the RER B direct to the airport!

Yeh sorry, i did read that, i was meaning how long does it take.

If you get a direct, and I'd advise you to during rush hour as the trains that stop at all stations are packed, it's about 25-30 minutes depending which stop in Paris you get on at and which terminal you get off at at CDG
