So its been nearly a week since my best friend and I took a day trip to DLP,and high time to do some highs and lows.
The Highs
World of disney- I could have bought the shop. Or lived there. Its beautiful.
Transport from Paris- We commuted in and it was super easy and very affordable at both times of day.
Toy Story Playland- The whole area is extremely well themed. Just stunning. Personal favourite was the RC coaster queue.
The castle- Its so beautiful. Wherever you see it in the park it just jumps out at you, a definite candidate for favourite castle.
The food- We ate at Casey's Corner, because its traditional for me. Tasty food, staff were friendly and efficient. Dinner was a muffin and hot chocolate from main street bakery, both tasty, hot chocolate in particular was a nice surprise as it came from a machine but was really delicious.
Liberty arcade seating area- we found this group of tables on a whim, and I'm so glad we did. On a cold day in March we were able to eat in relative shelter, toursasnt too busy, and we had a fab view of the castle while we ate.
Pirates of the Carribean- This whole experience was extremely well themed and detailed. From the queue to the ride itself. The best thought out attraction in the whole park IMO.
The Parade- We may have enjoyed this a bit too much. Small children were staring at us.
but yes, fabulous. Beautiful floats.
Fastpass- Didn't realise how helpful it was until we rode thunder mountain with them late in the day. Next time we shall use them more.
Discovery land queue times- We hit this land at about 7:20pm and it was empty. 15 minutes for space mountain, 10 for star tours and 25-30 mins for buzz. Definitely a good time of day for attractions.
Disney Dreams- WOW! I saw wishes in May, and while it will always have a special place in my heart, Dreams completely blows it out of the water. We waited 45 minutes in a good soot, and although it nearly gave us hypothermia, it was totally worth it. Incredible. Best show of all the disney parks I think.
The lows
Technical difficulties- Our time in the Studios was pretty much wrecked because two attractions we were queing for broke down, within the space of two hours. Crush broke down after we had waited for over an hour, we chose not to wait beyond that because of our time limit. Then rock n rollercoaster broke down as we reached the loading area, leading to another 90 minute wait. We rode two attractions in four hours. While I understand these things can happen, I felt really uninformed. Plus we then missed a good three rides we had really wanted which I was gutted about.
Crowds- Higher than I had expected. Was more mid than low. Nobody's fault just not a pleasant surprise.
The weather- again nobody's fault but it was so flipping cold! Especially after the sun went down. I was not surprised for the time of year and was glad of no rain, but yes... Brrrr.
Lack of characters- This is a downside to going in low season ( and I know they are auditioning for more friends right now as I'm trying out Monday) but I adore meeting characters and it would have been nice to see more around, we didn't actually get to meet any.
That's all I can think of! All in all we had a great day (My friend, who went to Florida and avoided WDW actually wants to go back! Success!) And a fab birthday treat! Trip report is on the way!
