We just returned from a Day Out w/ Thomas is Strasburg, PA. For those of you w/ Thomas fans, I highly recommend this. It's a full size steam engine Thomas that pulls coach cars & takes you for a 20 minute train ride. There's also a ton of activities for the kiddos. We've been twice & it's so much fun. My 3yo DS spent the whole ride home today telling us how much fun he had riding Thomas.

Here's a schedule if you want to see if he's coming to a railroad near you: http://exclusivelythomas.com/Day Out with Thomas.html

And, a couple of pics...

I have done this for the past three years with my boys and they love it.
It is seriously the highlight of the year.Ours is in November, and they are already talking about it!!

We've done this too many times. Sadly, my boys aren't into Thomas anymore.:(

Oldest DS and his DW are planning on taking DGS, Paul, on it soon. They are in the process of decorating Paul's new room in a Thomas The Tank Engine theme. :D

TC:cool:

Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to find it. My three year old son will be thrilled. :)

Thanks for posting, we'll be there this week. I really look forward to going also. Don't tell my DS that though. LOL

DS6 has seen Thomas twice. Each time, he says it's not the "real" Thomas (the "real" Thomas is on the videos).

Thanks for posting this. I had never heard of it and just bought tickets. My kids are going to go nuts!

Did it with DGS. He loved it!!! he keeps talking about going to see Thomas and when he can do it again.

We are going this coming weekend! I just posed a message about Strasburg and what else there is to do there. We are quite familiar with all the train stuff as my husband is a train NUT and has planned out Friday and Saturday (with, of coruse, a train ride with Thomas for my two year old!) but we are planning to do non-train related things on Sunday and I don't have a clue what to do! Did you all do anything else?

What about food and lodging? We are staying at the Netherlands Inn, which used to be the Histoic Strasburg Inn. It looks nice online, I just hope it is also nice in person!

Did you find any good places to eat?

We didn't do a lot. We were there w/ friends - 2 other families w/ 3 year olds. They arrived Saturday afternoon (we went up Friday night, so the kids would sleep the way up). We mainly hung out at the hotel Saturday & had a mini birthday party, since we all have kids turning 3 this month. Sunday, we were on the first train, so we headed to the RR at 8am & hung out there until about 1pm.

Sorry I don't have any more ideas on what to do up there. Judging by all the brochures in the hotel lobby, there's a ton of stuff to do, though!

We stay at the Fairfield Inn in Lancaster. It's about 15-20 minutes from the railroad.

There's a really good chain of deli's there, called Isaac's. You'll probably pass 3 or 4 of them as you travel around - there's even one across from the railroad. Also, on the main road, heading toward Strasburg, there's all kinds of restaurants, as well as 2 outlet malls.

Hope y'all have a great time!

Oh wow, that looks so cool! We'll have to plan to go there, my boys would love that. Thanks!::yes::

We missed it last year and thank goodness my son was too young to know that we missed it or else the therapy bills.....

Anyways, he is such a big fan that we will drive very far this year to go see Thomas down in CT!

Thanks for reminding me to get on the stick about this.

They are having one right outside of Orlando when we go back in just 11 days - yeah!! DS is so excited that he gets to see BOTH of his two favorite heroes on this trip - Buzz and Thomas!!

Thomas the Tank Engine is back on PBS. We get it on Wed mornings now. Check you local listing. They are all new stories too!

We just went to Day out with Thomas in August! My DS, 2, loves Thomas. It was a lot of fun. Thanks for the heads up about PBS. I'll look into it here.
