This is our first stay at a value resort. We normally use our points and stay in a 2 bedroom in one of the Vacation Clubs (home resort is Hilton Head but usually do Wilderness Lodge or Boardwalk). This time, because of the great rate and great reviews by Tyler (still looking for him) I decided to cancel out points stay and switch to two rooms at PC.

4 days before I faxed our room request to the room assigner. I listed in order what we we're hoping for. 50's room, 1st floor and as close as possible to the main building. We have never had any luck in the past so I kept my hopes low. We arrived last night (Saturday) around 5:30pm and were greated by EXTREMELY friendly cast members to help with our luggage. There are 6 of us so we have plenty. While I unloaded a CM was keeping my son (12) out of trouble and the girls (14, 6, 5) sat on the really cool luggage cart.

Check-in was a breeze. I was prepared for 45 mins -- we walked right up to the counter. Within about 5 mins I had a room assignment. I hesitatingly asked "where are these rooms?" and found they were in the 50's section, connecting, 1st floor, right on the end near the Everything Pop building. Couldn't believe it.

Now the rooms aren't the same as two bedroom Villas but we really liked them. Very bright, not too small, everything worked and was in perfect order. The person that helped with the luggage even suggested that if it wasn't cool enough -- we could call building maint. and they could probably do something about it.

Ended up having a quick bite for dinner before heading to the Boardwalk. The food court is pretty good. Typical selection, good quantity and tasted fine.

Spent the day at MK today and I swear it never got above 50 degrees. I was soooo cold in the morning (did Extra Magic Hour) that we thought we were still in Pittsburgh. We took the bus and caught the first one out -- around 7:15 and were at MK by 7:30, couldn't have been easier. The park got pretty crowded by 1pm or so although we were able to do quite a bit before lunch.

The only things we didn't get to do that we wanted to were Splash Mt. -- too cold and then it closed down. Saw what appeared to be someone being put onto a stretcher then the ride was down the rest of the night. The others we skipped were Small World (40 mins one time we went past) and Jungle Cruise -- just didn't have enough time before Wishes. Really enjoyed Wishes too.

All in all -- a very good day. If tomorrow warms up about 20 degrees things will be terrific.

Hate to break it to you... lol, I'm on vacation this week! I'll be returning to work Friday morning...

Hope you enjoy your stay... :)

Sorry to hear that Tyler -- no, glad for you actually. Too true of a story here. We switched from Beach Club villas to PC based on your reviews prior to it's opening.

Tonight -- I brought my laptop to the resort laundry and hooked up my wireless to post this review. As I was doing it -- a women was having a conversation with some others here telling they that a guy named Tyler convinced them to switch from wherever they were -- they had seen him on Disboards.

Before she left I had to show her my post and your response. It really is a very small world.

Have a great one and thanks for the suggestion.

That is too funny..Tyler is becoming quite the celebrity. He is also the reason I'll be staying at Pop Century next month.

apulk ,
Enjoyed reading your report. ::yes:: Thank you for posting.

I enjoy reading your live reports! How long are you staying at WDW?
I am going to send in my room request on Tuesday. We arrive Saturday morning real early. I am requesting also the 50's building on the first floor right by the pool, so the kids can just hop out of the room and into the pool:Pinkbounc
Have you noticed is it loud on the 1st floor? Also do they have jacuzzi's at the PC?? Oh can't wait to be there myself!
Thanks for the daily reports!

Tyler should be the new Disney CEO!!!

I know that we are staying there through reading all the wonderful things that he writed about the POP!!

What are the pop jets like? Are they always crowded? My grandchildren will go nuts over them I suspect.

If I remember correctly, I should have some pictures of Goofy's Pop Jets on my lil page... http://www.fricknfrack.net/openmouse.html

I'm hoping to get more pictures up later this week. I have most of the week off from Disney, but since I still have classes, I will be spending my vacation here at home. Works for me though... we've been super busy at Pop Century, so it's nice to actually get a day off! :)

Loved your pictures, Tyler. Can't wait till you add more to your website.:D

I really waiver back and forth on whether I would ever stay at a value but I think my four year old would love this place and save me some money if we go on a trip by ourselves again. Thanks for the review and thanks for the extra pics Tyler. I enjoyed them.

If a smaller room size and lack of Deluxe Resort amenities aren't a huge concern, then a Value resort is a great way to save money. However, if you do wish for those amenities, then a Value resort might not be your particular cup of tea. Sometimes a Moderate resort provides a great compromise, and should definetly be considered. :)

Still loving the Pop and boy was it a great day today. Much warmer -- sitting out by the pool catching up on my email right now.

Another thing we have been very happy with is the bus transportation. We NEVER take the bus -- it's been 10 years I think. We even have our own car but with Extra magic hour -- sometimes it's easier to take the bus -- especially to MK. The location is great -- it took just about 5 mins I think to get from MGM to Pop tonight -- two buses were waiting when we got to the stop after Fantasmic.

Tomorrow is our last full day here -- too bad, except that we're heading on the 3 night Disney cruise.

we had absolutely no complaints about this resort! Check-in very quick and smooth. They had us in a 50s room which would've been fine w/ me but the kids wanted to stay in the 80's or 90s, so they quickly switched us.

we really enjoyed the food court, so convenient and quickly became addicted to the pop waffle! so much so, that after our stay at PC we moved over to our OKW room and went back to PC for breakfast!

the place is so colorful, fresh and clean. Loved the nostalgic items on display from bygone eras. my daughters learned a lot about my generation.
