We went to Jewel in October on our cruise. It took forever to get to the resort, and the areas you pass are very run down with lots of goats along the roads. After going to Playa Mia in Cozumel and having wonderful service and meeting such friendly waiters, we were so disappointed in the Jewel. The servers at Jewel were just plain rude! One of the waitresses at the buffet restaurant yelled at my mom for getting the floor wet and told her to leave and dry off, but we had never even been in the water and were not at all even damp. They do not serve alcoholic beverages anywhere near the pool with the slides. You have to go to the other side of the resort for any alcoholic drinks. Before I knew about this, I asked for a drink at the slide pool I got scolded for asking and was told that no parent needs to drink in that area b/c it is filled with kids. Why have an all-inclusive resort if you aren't allowed to drink? I am not normally a drinker but just wanted to try something since we were at an all inclusive resort and it was included in the price. We were all so ready to get back to the ship that day. Cozumel and Grand Cayman were absolutely wonderful, but we will just stay on the ship if we ever go to Jamaica again. And I am someone who honeymooned in Jamaica and loved it! It just takes way to long to get anywhere from where the port is located.
