Today, we decided that sleeping in would be the best thing we could possibly do. We haven't had any problems getting on any rides in under five minutes, plus I am still limping (see Day Three for full details), so we sleep until 12:30! It was nice to leisurely stroll into MK with full bellies and well-rested just at the time most families were burning out and looking for lunch.
We hop the railroad to go directly to Big Thunder Mountain, only to find that it is closed for an unknown amount of time. So we explore Tom Sawyer Island, head over and get a fast pass for Splash Mountain so we can walk right on later (like we couldn't then, it was only a 5 minute wait) After this, Big Thunder starts running, so we ride it twice in succession. Today is without a doubt the hottest and stickiest day Orlando has had this week. Small children were crying, coke and water vendors were making a killing, and some of the more hygenically challenged tourists were particularly ripe. A man and woman in line for the Mike Fink Keelboats made me physically ill, and we did not get on the boat, electing to wait for the next one!
Without a doubt, the best ride today was Pirates of the Caribbean! It was about 65 degrees inside, and people were just hanging out in the plaza without actually riding the thing! Following that refreshment, we rode the Jungle Cruise and had a CM named Jim who was hilarious! He cracked on Disney the whole ride, about how they shuttle you through gift shops, and how the animatronics on the Jungle Cruise were shoddy. DH (hereafter referred to as Clint) and I thoroughly enjoyed his smart-aleck spiel, but you could tell that others on the boat were less than enthused. I hope he doesn't lose his job!
We doubled back to ride Splash Mountain, dashing in front of the parade that was beginning in Frontierland, and walked right on. It was an entertaining little ride, but I couldn't tell if I actually got wet or not, with the 100% humidity in the air! We live in Alabama, so humidity is nothing new. I felt sorry for the people who aren't used to it...They looked positively awful! Then back on the railroad to Mickey's Toontown Fair, so we could get the obligatory pic with the Mouse himself. It looks okay, except that I'm leaning over, and he moved his hand to steady me, so Mickey has his hand on my rump. Everyone that has seen this picture has laughed and laughed...Clint was ready to head back over to Space Mountain, but I made him ride Snow White, and the Pooh ride, since they were indoors, and NO STANDING involved. We finish here about 4:00, and head out of the park. I am ready to get back to AKL, and a NAP!
By this time I am crying again with my foot, and the love of my life has no pity. He is determined that today we will also scope out the monorail resorts. He wants to find a restaurant to eat at tomorrow, so we'll check out all of these. So we ride to the Contemporary, get off, and get menus from the restaurants. Rather, Clint gets menus, and I sit in the floor at the entrance to Chef Mickeys while he goes upstairs to CG. On to the Poly, where he again starts wailing "Why didn't we stay here?!" I finally dragged him away and we hit the GF before making the loop back to MK so we can get on the bus and head back to AKL. He sits and looks at his menus, not knowing that I have already made PS for Boma tonight, and Cape May tomorrow night before our fireworks cruise. I have found that if I merely suggest things, and let him think he made the decisions, then everything is fine. I think I have found the secret to a happy marriage!
Boma was okay, I will probably get razzed for saying that, but I really didn't like it.. I am not much of a vegetable eater, but I ate my fill of meat and dessert. It may be a cliche by now, but the Zebra Domes were awesome. Clint ate four!
I do have one word of advice, though. Beware the massage lady I got.. I scheduled a massage at AKL after we got back from the park, and practically had to crawl down to the fitness center. I told her that it was the left foot, the lower back, and everything else was pretty good. I left there in worse shape than I came in. I had a bruise on my low, low, lower back from where she gouged me, and at times it felt like she was trying to separate my muscles from my bones. I told her on several occasions to be a bit gentler, to no avail.. I might as well have rolled up my $85 and smoked it.. It would have felt better...
