Whew! After last night, we couldn't wait for 80s night. I had really enjoyed that last year.
But first, this was Grand Cayman day. We booked thru Captain Marvin's so we had about 2 hours before we needed to check in at their office. So we foolishly decided to disembark and take a taxi to 7 mile beach. The beach was nice but we cut the time too close. The taxi took us to Royal Palms beach and we were able to get drinks and swim while sitting at a table above the beach area. Then I decided to get my hair braided. This took about an hour and a half! DH and 2 DDs left without me. We came very close to missing our reservation. My suggestion is to do one or the other. It was too much for one morning.
Finally, we all made it to the pier and set off for Stingray City. This was an amazing experience. You get out of the boat and stand on a sand bar in the middle of a bay. I'm really glad we did it but I'll be honest.....every time a ray came near me I screamed! No, I didn't touch them! No, I didn't feed them! Soon, I was freaking out so much I got back on the boat. Several others were on the boat as well. However, many people enjoyed touching them and feeding them. Before we left, I did go back in the water. It truly was fantastic. It was very pure, clean and clear. It reminded me of the water at the Baths in BVI. It was unbelievable.
Next we traveled to Coral Gardens to snorkel. This was off the boat snorkeling and the fish were probably some of the prettiest I've seen. This part was really nice. We didn't stay too long as it was a 2 hour tour. When we returned to the office, we were given free rum cake and a discount on souvenirs.
We returned to where the tenders were located. We were pretty hungry so we stopped in Hard Rock Cafe for nachos and drinks. (We are such tourists!!!) Then we shopped alittle and got caught in a terrential rain storm! I want to add that overall the weather was excellent except for CC day. It wasn't unbearably hot but the sun was out most of the time.
When we returned to the ship, we cleaned up early so we could attend "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". It was fun but not overly exciting. I would do it again however.
After dinner we attended Rich Purpura and then 80s Time Warp began. This show has an excellent set, DH and I were asked to be Robert Palmer and backups with another lady. This was fun and then we had to answer some 80s questions. The good part was the free shot we received for participation.
The dancing wasn't flowing like last night until..............the band competition between the GoGos and Bon Jovi. The crew staff had audience members pretend to be groupies. This really worked well because it got alot of people on the dance floor. The Bon Jovi group was really good and they won! Everyone got psyched after this and the band took off. I forgot to mention them earlier. They were "Spirit". We loved them. They stayed forever and it was a great night for partying. I might mention that one of the crew said, "We were rockin'!"
