Today was a down day, we decided to take a break from the parks and do a little shopping and a little swimming in the afternoon. As usual the monkey wakes up at 5:30, who needs an alarm clock with a toddler. We head down to Mara and pick up our refilable mugs and some breakfast. Then its out to the car and to Downtown Disney, of couse since I'm driving, we park right outside of the Lego shop and head for my favorite store. I don't find anything that I'm particularly enamored with so we head over to the Disney store and walk around a bit, we pick up a few things for the monkey to entertain herself with and continue on... for the most part it was alot of fun except for the stinky Basin store. Now I'm all for smelling fresh and clean but when you put all those scents together.. peeee yuuuuuu. We stop at Capn' Jacks Margarita shack have a drink and then its back to the hotel for lunch. After a lunch of cheese and crackers its to the pool for some swimming. I couldn't believe it, although its almost 90 outside there are lots of free lounges and chairs by the pool. Alexis is a little water monkey and she keeps us there for a couple of hours. Its back to the room to dry off and a little nap for everyone.
We decide to go to the Boardwalk for dinner. So we catch a bus to Epcot, walk through to the Boardwalk, and have a wonderful dinner at Big River Brewing company. At this point it's 8 pm and we decide to head back into Epcot to watch Illuminations. We enter through the International Gateway and work our way around the Lagoon. We duck into the "Junkaterium" in Japan and do a little shop looking. My DW picks up a chopstick rest and promptly drops it, shattering it, she picks it up and goes to the register and offers to pay for it, which they politely decline. (I think we shocked them by offering.) At this point its about 8:45 and we continue heading around the lagoon for the fireworks and decide that with the light crowd wherever we are when they start is where we will stop. They start when we are in Mexico and we park the stroller and watch the fireworks. This is Alexis' first time with fireworks and she isn't scared by the noise, just fascinated. The show ends and we head right to the exit with everyone else and get the first bus to AK without a wait... the parks were really empty the first couple of days.
Pedometer Reading 5031 paces (I think we broke it) = 2.4 miles
