I read before how people make thier reservations day by day at their earliest day possible for some ressies. How does this work and does MS link all days together? Any help would be great.

You are not making separate reservations that need to be linked but rather extending the original reservation. Say you are arriving on 12/15. 12/15 would checkout on 12/16. So on 1/16 you can call for your first night at your home resort. Then on 1/17, you can all and extend the checkout to 12/17, on 1/18 call to extend it to 12/18....etc.

I just did this recently for the first time.

If you plan to call day by day, on the first day, let the CM know that you will be calling day by day. The CM will ask you when your final check-out day will be, and he/she will make a note of it so that the confirmation letter will not be sent out until the final day is added to the reservation. On the next day, let the CM know that you are adding a day to an existing reservation. Your reservation will be brought up and one night added. Repeat this for as long as you plan to be staying. If MS is closed, you get a day's reprieve from calling :), and you will book two nights the next day you call.

It was quick and easy to add days. Everything worked out fine. My only complaint was that I happened to be calling during our holiday break, and had to wake up at 6AM Pacific time while the rest of the household was sleeping in. It wouldn't have been so inconvenient had it been during a normal school week when I am already up before 6AM anyhow. Oh well, it's all done now, yippee!

Good luck!

Dumb question.

What happens at the 7month window? Do you wait until the last day of your ressie and put in a wiating list or call day-by-day or both?

I had to split my stay between 2 resorts (VAK?SSR) but am hoping that once the 7 month window opens up I can get the rest of my days at VAK.

First you want to try DBD. Remember it is 7 months from the check-out date that you can reserve that day before. If you get the first day, great, if not wait list it. Try for the second day even though the first day is waitlisted. And so on. If you cannot get all your days by one way or the other then cancel and fall back on SSR. Good luck. :thumbsup2

Just did my first day by day after 10 years of membership. Just like others said let the CM in MS know and they will ask you the last day and they will hold that ressie and you will have the same number until the end. Then they will send out your confirmation w/your dates.

I would do the same at the 7 month window.

Do note that while we make a big deal of this here, it really only needs to be done for a small subset of units during a short period of the year at eleven months. At seven months its a little larger number of resorts/units and perhaps a wider swath of year. Sometimes we leave the perception that you should call day by day to get a one bedroom OKW in July at eleven months - that isn't the case at all.

Thank you to all that has replied. I have yet to do a day-by-day ressie. Each time I booked over the past 3 yrs with MS I had had no problem getting what I wanted as far as dates. Although we are VERY flexible being Fl. residents and not having to worry about travel arrangments!

Have a magicl day all of you!:grouphug:

I agree! Day-by-day booking is talked about so much, folks might get the impression that you must do it all the time. Far from it.

We are planning on going from Dec. 27/08 - Jan. 6/09 and need a 1bdr, would you book day by day for SSR or just wait and book it all at once?

I do this all the time. At the 11 month window, I always let them know that I would be adding more days and they just leave it open for me. They don't need to link it because they just modify the reservation to add the next day. And on the last day, I always let them know that that'll be my departure date and so they can print out the confirmation.

In terms of linking reservations, I have done that numerous times also since I have two memberships which at times I use some points from each one.

I usually do the day by day at the 11 month window, however, with the 7 month window, I usually wait until the 7 month to the departure date to do it since it is possible that I would not get all the date and I would then have to choose another one. But that's just me. I think either way, it will work out.

I'd do it in two blocks - your danger day is New Years Eve - but from there on you only need one phone call. So call Feb 1st for the first part and Feb 10 for the rest of it.

Generally SSR is not a day by day thing at any time of year. But on that night, best be safe.

Day by Day March 14-21, 2009? I know this is spring break. We are booking at OKW in a 2 BR. I have never done the day by day thing. Do we need to do this for these dates?
Thanks, Merilyn
