I am going to try to switch my ressie to BWV for mid-Nov. I realized that I should have been doing this day by day, but I figured if I get it fine...if not, that's fine too. The reason I didn't call day by day (I could have been since the 11th!)was because I don't have enough points to cover both ressies. But reading this post it sounds like I don't have to be able to cover both ressies since one will be "open" until I get all nights (if I get them). Am I thinking about this correctly? Any help is appreciated...this will be our first trip home!

You do have to have points at that time for each and every day you reserve. So you will have to cancel days from the other reservation, borrow or some other move to free up points if you don't have enough. One way to do this is to only have weekday reservations then go back and do weekends at the end or when you have the points if you're trying to use non home resort points for part of the reservation.

You have to cancel the original reservation before they can book the new one, it's basically modifying your booking.

"Open" in this context means that the day-by-day reservation has not had a confirmation letter sent because it is still not complete. It has nothing to do with points.

True if and only if you're canceling days on the existing reservation to use those points for the new reservation.
