Re: the insanity of the idea
I was very suspicious of the concierge rooms at AKV just for the idea that you'd see a feeding frenzy and not be able to get consecutive nights for a stay. But that seems to be working out ok for folks.
DBD ressies seem as dangerous and therefore totally bonkers, but my explorations into it have been remarkably painless. (Kinda like going to the dentist fearing gutwrenching pain and then being told, "We're all done.")
MS is very schooled in this. When you call that first time, you let them know your intended check-out date. They then open a reservation, book the first night and advise you to call back each day as you complete it. The final written confirmation is held until the booking is done. And I found that when I need a special room like HA with roll-in shower, they have already put that room on hold for the length of stay as I booked.
That first call is the longest. They check availability, take names of occupants, open the ressie. The subsequent days are extremely short. You just say "I'm calling for the next day in my DBD ressie for X date and location". Call lasts about 2 minutes, most of it spent listening to the CM at MS typing on his/her computer.
That said, I've only used DBD bookings thrice: twice for NYE and again to switch at 7 mos to BWV for opening of F&W festival. I called before my 7 mos. switch a few times to feel out availability for the time just so I didn't get my hopes artificially inflated. MS is very good about telling you what they have even if you can't book it yet.
