This will be my first vacation booked as a DVC memeber  We will be staying for about 10 nights at the end of October 2008, and staying in a 2 bedroom. Our home resort is AKV, do you think it will be necessary to book day by day? Any expertise is appreciated!! Thank you :goodvibes

I have booked day-by-day at the 11-month window a couple of times, and both times on the last day, I asked MS if there was availability for the whole week if I just called on the last day, and both times the answer was Yes. I was booking a 1-BR, and they seem to be the last to go.

I don't think booking day-by-day at the 11-month window is necessary for most DVC accomodations. Of course, there are certain types of accomodations and certain times of the year when it may be necessary (i.e., VWL during Christmas, or a GV).

Even if it isn't necessary, if you're a worrier and would like the peace of mind, I guess it won't hurt if you do book day-by-day.

One call for the whole vacation should do it for you unless you want concierge or one of the value rooms.

I recently booked a standard view at the BWV for October 2008 and only made one call. I am not on the waitlist, either, LOL. There are less SV rooms at the BWV than there are rooms at the AKV, and AKV is not as popular the Food & Wine Festival as are the EPCOT resorts. So IMHO, day by day calling for what you want is not necessary.

We always go over food and wine. We always stay at BWV. We have always had either a Boardwalk View or a Standard View. This is the first year I got my act together enough to try day by day (and really it was every other day, I missed a few phone calls) and we've never had an issue. That's one of the harder reservations to get (BW Standard View over Food and Wine). I think it will get tougher, and it wasn't a pain to do, but I don't think I needed to do it even this time (we were getting TWO rooms this year - my sister and parents are joining us - with the extra room it was a "be safe" situation).

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences!! It's such an exciting thing, but I guess it will be a while before I become a "pro". Thank you again, everyone is such a wonderful help. :flower3:

At 11 months the only reason to book day-by-day would be if you needed one of the very rare accommodation types (like a GV), or you were going over the holidays. You shouldn't have any trouble doing your reservation with just one call.

I agree, only during a busier time would you need to do this. However, I just started my day-by-day reservation for the last 10 days of October for BWV-Standard View. (The EPCOT resorts are very popular during F&W, and the standard view at BWV is also popular--for these two reasons I always do DBD for my October reservations.)

I've been doing a day by day this week for next October for BWV boardwalk view. I just wanted to say it's been flawless. Quick calls each day (today I did 2 days since they were closed yesterday). I usually waited until late morning and never had a hold time. I'm probably jinxing myself for tomorrow - I have 1 more day to go and Saturdays are sometimes long waits.

I do day-by day for the 1st weekend in December, just because it is busy and I would be devastated if I could not get in.
