Day before or after Thanksgiving?

I was thinking the same thing. It's been raining here so hoopefully it will be a nice day tomorrow.

I would say after. The day before Thanksgiving will be CROWDED! It is not a blockout day. Last year the day before Thanksgiving was the most crowded day of the week.

Thanks for reminding me about blockout days. We were going to buy our Deluxe AP's. So we coould buy a regular day pass for $76 on Friday then once we get inside upgrade it to a AP right???

if we can do that what happens next year if we decide to renewal....
Do we have to pay next year on Nov 26, 2011 which will be on a Sat and be another blockout day. So if we renwal do we pay an additional $40 a person if we go that day?

In the past you've been able to buy any kind of AP, even if it's a blockout day for that type of AP, and go into the park and activate it. But yeah, the one day, then upgrade, would work, too.

A little late now but I'd say go before. Today's a work/travel/shop/prepare-to-cook day. People are busy. Friday, everyone's off work, they've got 20 pounds of cooked turkey and leftover stuffing to work through, and they're looking for something to do while the family's in town.

Woke up this morning and it so gloomy outside. DD had a sore throat and a lil coughtthe other day. Yesterday was day 3 of anitbotics. We were thinking today would be a good day but the weather made me change ourt mind. I think we will give dd today and tomorrow tog et better. I tell ya we've been trying to go to DL sinceNov 12 but I was sick-lol! Well we have GAD tickets so we better go by Dec 17th-lol!

Totally agree. We arrived really late on Saturday. Got to the park about 8:30 to find out the fireworks were cancelled. The park was DEAD, we walked on so many rides in fantasyland it was crazy.

Sunday was nice crowd wise as well. We got everything except the Tangled meet n greet done that we had on our list.

Monday was CRAZY. I didn't even see lines like that in the summer or October visits. We waited over 60 min for Tangled, all rides had super long lines. They even switched the entrance for FP at BTMRR which was sooo confusing. FP entered on the left and standby on the right.

Please let us know how it works out. I'm curious since this weekend has not been to consistent, AP blocks have changed the patterns.

I'm not so convinced that it's the AP holders that are the key here.

Previously, most schools had class on M-W of Thanksgiving week. Some schools had the entire week off. From talking to friends and reading, it seems that a lot more schools now have the entire week off - including some CA schools. I think this has resulted in more people coming to DLR during Thanksgiving week, not just in the later part of the week.

I wouldn't be so sure of your reasoning. Most guests who went today, didn't go yesterday and aren't going tomorrow. The average DL visit is one day long. The question is which day they choose to go on, not how long their break is.

I agree with you if we are discussing local visitors. However, I don't think that's who is mostly at the Park this week. If people are making a Thanksgiving week vacation trip to DL, they are going to be there for more than one day in most likelihood. People from No. Cal. and surrounding states are most likely not just going to visit Disneyland for just one day. Those with children in school have more flexibility now due to school schedules changing, as I mentioned above.

The locals, who previously may have gone on Thursday or Friday, can now pick from any day of the week (if they have children), again, because of the changes in the school schedules.

You will note that in the OP's question, "2 days" is mentioned.

we finally made it to Disneyland. We didnt get there until 3pm. Stood in line at city hall and was told I had to go to the other place for AP's. We went to the other place and told the lady what we wantedWe upgrades our GAD tickets and I gave her my chase disney visa and told her there was $155 rewards on it that I wanted to transfer toward my AP. She did the transaction took our pictures and told us the monthly total for the monthly payment plan. It was more than I calculated. I asked if she put the $155 towards it and she said no. She said I should have gone to city hall and call the bank then have them put it on card then to AP. I asked if i could go back and get the card loaded and she said she already voided my tickets. I asked if she could stop the transaction so i could go back because i wanted the rewards to go toward monthly payment so it would be lower. SHe said the tickets were already voided. The word "opps-bad word" slipped outta my mouth and all of a sudden she said she could try but at that point i was done. I'll just use those points for food for future trips.


I felt so off guard getting to the park late. I thought i had all my info from the DIS and ready to go. WRONG! Next trip I will make a list-lol!


We went on Haunted house and Pirates of the caribbean and the wait was 40 min on the sign but it went fast. It been 2 years since i've been to DL and the lines for both rides were longer today then in past trips. We went on a few other rides and even thought the lines were long it seemed to go by fast. There just seem to be lots of people everywhere. SOmetimes it was hard getting through the crowds.

I didnt get my carmal chocolate dipped pretzels Ran out of time and could remember where to get it.

I showed dh a picture of the montie cristo sandwhich and he wanted to try it. I told him those run $17 and I'm not paying that much.I thought I read we could get it cheaper but Cafe Orleans was $17.50 is that the cheapest?


Glad we got the AP's so our next visit i wont feel so rushed. I plan on enjoying the park. Tonight it just got to cold for me burrrrrr!
